Manticore and 3030

Was there any information about the manticore going deeper then 3030
i know it’s early. But the videos I saw they said equivalent to the 3030
would like to here peoples opinion on what they think where this machine stands in the line up
3030 is a grand more. But what justifies that 1000. I feel depth should be one of the top factors

I doubt we will know that until testing. Lawrie said that the Manticore was "as powerful" as the CTX. Tom Dankowski, who also worked on the Manticore project for 3 years, calls it a "medium-high line" machine. The CTX is the high line machine for Minelab. My gut tells me that the Manticore is not the CTX replacement, but the mid/high machine that retired the E-Trac. I am guessing that it may be as deep at CTX, but I am not sure that it will be as accurate at depth as the CTX. We'll see.

FSB 2 technology is different from Multi-IQ+ as well. FSB 2 transmits simultaneous frequencies from 1.5khz to 100khz. Multi-IQ+ is 5, 10, 15, 20, and 40 khz. FBS 2 Eats a lot of power and makes the machines heavy, while the Multi-IQ+ technology has much lighter hardware. FSB 2 is much more accurate at depth than Multi-IQ (Nox). Again, we will see what testing and head-to-head field trials show.

If your on Dankowski’s web site, ask him if they are testing another CTX? My guess is they are testing a new one or it’s in development now. I Hope they make it lighter

I am NOT a user over there, just been gleaning a lot of information on the Manticore in the past few days to see if it would be "the one" to rid me of my 10-year love affair with the CTX. I would assume that Tom or any other Minelab employee testing the CTX replacement would be bound by non-disclosure agreements to stay quiet. I also assume that they are likely innovating or testing a new flagship high-end machine, but that could take years to come to market. The CTX was way ahead of its time, and still is on certain features. It may be an aging superstar, but it is not ready for retirement yet.

I understand but while you glean more information try to read in between the lines. He probably already gave up the information in a long round about way.

I need to make this ABUNDANTLY and UNBELIEVABLY clear…given that the Manticore is brand new, I’m thinking the “discounts” will be small, if at all. Let’s say you can buy one for 1,500$. I bought my CTX brand new in the box shipped to my door in 2016 for 1,800$ from a huge well known dealer. That’s right. It’s a 300$ difference from the Manticore to the CTX.

CTX has built in GPS system with multiple features. The cost of that alone can't be overlooked when comparing the two and location brings as much to bear on depth as the technology , one may work deeper than the other in different soils. Depth and price have no direct correlation.

One of my favorite tests EVER was when Calabash tested the Equinox against the CTX. Anybody who has seen his videos has immediately asked themselves….HOW THE HELL is he getting that kind of depth?? NONE of my soil is like that, yet the Equinox and even other machines were hitting on 9-10” dimes like they were pop cans! Well….for SOME reason he couldn’t get the CTX to do as well, or so he seemed to show. The real laugh about watching that for me was knowing that people who have the CTX and have spent the time with it and know what it does were probably laughing just as I was at the ludicrousness of the ”test”.
I understand…if you don’t like the weight and/or don’t want to spend that kind of money, I get it. But don’t use those two factors to tell me what the actual performance and relevance of the features are, they’re not related as stated above. “Light and fast” means diddly sh*t to ALOT of people if you don’t have a decent idea of what your target is. If they made a CTX where the ONLY things changed were the weight and speed and all of that was an IMPROVEMENT IN PERFORMANCE AND TID? I’m all in, show me.

I agree!

Kevin...You thinking about this new machine?
I’m always thinking about a new machine Ted!🤠 Except….that new machine has to perform as well or better at finding deep old coins in my sites and general environments than my FBS units do. It’s been a tough ask so far, but we’ll see. I do think the next one will be the D2, just so I have some diversity of technology available. Its fair to say that I didn’t really get along with the Equinox, and since this new one appears to be largely based off of that machine, I can’t see getting the Manticore unless someone can come along and show me that it’s a lot better than what I’ve got. The fact that Minelab says this machine is more “EMI resilient” does pique my interest…but again, time will tell.

I will be watching! I took my SE out yesterday for the heck of it! Didn't find much but had fun! As I stated in the Equinox forum... I think I will keep what I have. So I have the SE,the Equinox, and a Sovereign MK 1...Good luck and let me know what you get!

No but, the Lead engineer said it’s equivalent. I suppose in depth?……He was asked if it was the best coin, jewelry and, relic detector that Minelab has ever made& in his opinion….. he said yes. I would suppose it would be too considering it has updated technology. It only makes sense .

I know one ML dealer who told me 3030 still deeper than EQ and another one told me no 3030 lite coming so was not surprised that the Manticore in the presentation video is an EQ with a token 12 line throne in to give it a 3030 "feel" Is it the same depth? Maybe but the 3030 does well where you can run a more open screen for the deeper objects or where near trash and compare with a tighter screen using a tighter pattern. My old 3030 died of old age leaving me w/o a SMF machine. Leaning toward another 3030 combined with my D1. Doing the D2 seems like too much duplication and seems to have too many "new" model problems.. JMO

I don't think the mati is going to get you any more coins than the ctx or nox at least not 1599 dollars worth or what they end of selling for . The tec is basically the same it well be using the same freqs as the nox . Freqs are what the detector lets you see . However getting rid of emi sounds interesting may get you some more coins but not 1599 dollars worth.
I will be waiting for something new a (game changer) going back to 50 percent more power than the nox well we could say the ctx has 50 percent more power than the manti it has 4 batteries lol .
I want a new tec muti has been out a while you may improve it somewhat but 1599 dollars worth is it worth it not to me still waiting for something new . This detector well be a super nox same tec ,
You could go back to the explorer series xs se explorer 2 e-trac than the ctx all just a little better than the last none were game changers from one to the other they all were good if you new how to use them . sube

I can’t disagree with what you said about learning the machine. To me it’s everything
For me the ctx has so many things you can apply and it overwhelming I am not a quick learner
From what I here the equinox and I guess the manticore is better on gold and that’s what I hunt for
when you guys replied you talk about finding coins on how well the ctx does finds them
How well do you think the ctx is compared to the equinox or (manticore) at finding gold

It didn't appear to be more "EMI resilient" in the couple of vids I've seen on it Kevin.--------Del

I agree totally, after watching all the videos and reading what info is out there I believe the Manticore is an upgrade to the Nox and to compete with the Deus 2. I believe a new version of the CTX 3030 next year or year after. I know in my soil i prefer the FBS2 over my Nox Multi IQ, the Manticore may be better in my soil than my Nox, but for now Im staying with my CTX with the ability to see 2 objects simultaneously. I hope the new CTX whenever it does come out stays close to what it is with a faster processor. Batteries come a long way since the release so should be able to get more power in a smaller lighter package when the time comes.
