Why so many people dumping the Deus 2

If you beach hunt as I do, there's a world of difference between the Deus I and the Deus II. I had a Deus I for a short period of time and sold it because it just was not capable of hunting in salt water environments. The Deus II on the other hand is right at home on our Florida beaches.
As many of you know, I was a Minelab guy for many years...had many a Minelab from the E-trac to the Excal, CTX and Equinox ...all good machines for sure but these days, the Deus II is my "go to" detector. State of the art in my opinion and does everything I need and want a detector to do. Honestly, I have no interest in the Manticore. I'm sure it will be a worthy addition to our hobby but I'm done learning new machines. My Deus II and I are buddies. ;)

I had the Deus 1 and liked it for land hunts but I’m way more of a wet sand beach hunter. I found these two rings on my third hunt with the D2. Almost paid off! I use the little tether on the remote. Hasn’t popped off yet. It’s so comfortable to swing! I have the 11” coil and compared to my NOX with the big coil it feels like a butterfly net. It’s not dead silent in the wet sand the way I’m running it but I totally know when there’s a target worth digging. Now that I have two detectors, if my brother takes over my NOX 800 then I might pick up a Manticore. We shall see…maybe I don’t need one?

more on uk ebay at low prices 700 - 1200 quid and used remotes at 550 ..they have some light scratches

Well for guys that don't understand technology that well they just want take the time to learn the machine. I love tech!!! As my other hobby is tech and smartphones. The D2 was very easy to learn for me!!! I had several minelab machines from the Explorer's, Sovereign's and the CTX. Then finally the Equinox 800. Sorry they just don't compare to the Deus 2!!!!! My hunting buddy uses a Equinox and we compared targets all the time. His Equinox will not hit on deep quarters instead they ring up as negative numbers pass 14 inches as to the Deus 2 I am getting a target ID in the 90's. To this day he has not find a gold ring that don't sound like crap to him!!! Every gold ring he has found sounds like a bad bottle cap. Gold rings on the Deus 2 sounds great at any depth even at 18 inches!!!! EMI is a issue for the D2 especially in the summer time with all the tourists in town on the beach with there cellphones, Bluetooth speakers, WiFi boosters from the hotels, and cellphones towers on the hotel roofs. BUT so does the Equinox have the same issues to EMI. The way around the EMI for me was to use regular beach program and the new headphones which reduce the EMI down a lot!!!! Winter time no problems "game on" everything wide open full blast!!! I love hunting on the beach in the winter one to bother you or no "Karen" worried about you digging 10 feet holes or what my buddy calls them the "hole police" plus free parking no permits to park oh yeah ready for winter!!!

I keep coming back to this thread out of curiosity to gauge what is happening.
I checked Flee bay this moning an only saw (2) used D2'a for sale. One from a dealer and one from a guy in Quebec. The hunting season fror him is going to close soon due to winter. So I see that sale as a "I need money" deal.
I don't really see a performance related dump going on for the D2.
I like my D2 and I haven't use my Equinox for quite some time.
I think the D2 is pretty good for what I do and there are many programs I have not explored.
Some of the top detector engineers I follow have just tested the D2 in the last two months and claimed it a successful model.
Think I will start liquidating some of my older units.

As an old/ deep coin hunter, the D2 WS6 master checks all the boxes for me !! Lots of people purchase a detector and don’t know how to use it or don’t understand how the XP platform works. Lots of people have to have the newest thing out , or they think they will miss out ! Challenge yourself to fully learn a detector and it will reward you !! Don’t look at it as a competition with others , but make it with yourself ! HH Tony

I traded my Deus in on the Deus2. It was ok just like my Deus. They have some cool features and are super light. I was going to stick with the D2 and see if it was that much better than my Deus. I sold it after digging a piece of iron that sounded exactly like a Mercury dime I had found on the previous hunt. I don't like calling my hunting buddy over and telling him I've got a good deep target and it turns out to be iron junk! I put it in the car and finished the hunt with another machine. I sold it soon after. It's definitely not the best machine out there for me.
I have a friend who was a huge Deus fan. He loved his Deus but the D2 feel short in his expectations as well so he sold his.
It's no big deal some like'em some weren't as impressed for whatever reason. Remember, hunt with what makes you happy!! 😁

D1 and 2 both like rusty steel at depth ,sometimes it nulls steel ,other times it don’t ,so time is wasted

Use the included lanyard to protect the remote against loss.

About the EMI - program 7 on D2 is much more resistant against EMI than any of the D1 programs and can take over if the multifrequency programs are playing a concert.
the puck also falls off the stem but yu cant fit a lanyard

I use a short length of 25 lb test fishing line as a lanyard with 100% confidence.
I did pre-order the Manticore but every time I take the D2 out I wonder why?
Actually I just cancelled my pre-order for the Manticore. Very happy with the D2 and will wait and see how it goes.
I was 33 on the kelly list so anyone behind me just moved up 1

I need to do some research and find where all these machines are being dumped, I’d like to find a second one with a 9 inch coil to go with the 11 inch machine I’ve got now since I like it so much!

Soil conditions vary in all countries so results vary a lot…hence the sellers who go back to deus 1 ?
