CZ7a-Quicksilver repair

New member
I have an older CZ7a-Quicksilver (SN - 80754) that is my old war horse. I have had it for over 20 years and she is in need of some repairs. The digital display is darkened out some and the buttons are difficult to operate.

Is anyone aware of a repair video or shop that can assist?

East Texas metal detectors in Gilmer Tx might be able to help ??? Fisher no longer services the Cz 5,6, 6a, 7, 70 ,,,,,,, probably not what you want to hear. HH Tony

If I remember correctly, Fisher no longer has parts for these Cz's.
You'd probably have to find another one or find another non working Cz and see if those parts can get your detector back in the game. My suggestion being a cz3d user back when is to search for a New Detector. Yes, Cz's were and are very good units but the Technology that's out there today would probably suit you better.Save the MONEY you would spend on a repair and get yourself a NEW DETECTOR!!! JMHO
I also think I heard Keith Wills can no longer get parts for the Fisher CZ's... You can try him and see if he can help you out though.

as an hobby repairman I can say that anything except the display could be repaired, maybe adapting other parts..

there are some non serviceable parts on those instruments:
- display (because they have a custom graphic layout)
- microcontrollers (because they have software than cannot be copied even from working units)

Thanks to all for the information. A new machine is a possibility, just got to get the WAR DEPARTMENT to clear it.
As a follow-up, I can not find any info on how to open the box without destroying it like a 'youtube' vidio. It looks like it is sealed really well.

Any resources on how to open it?

I am thinking I could open and clean it up and see if this helps.

That is what I found long time ago. Hopefully that helps a little. GL & HH
