Has anyone used the Dr. Otek machine?

ive just taken delivery of the dr otek mt xe today ill use it tommorow and let you know how i got on
It has a simplified category target category, it does have VDI numbers but they seem kind of crammed for some targets. Surprisingly, they gave it a backlibut no Ground Balance adjustment or other real useful adjustments to take on an assortment of challenging ground conditions.
For the low price you do get the digging tool and hopefully it would be sturdy enough to be worth the investment. I hunt a lot of very contaminated sites where smaller coils are a must have. I've relied on smaller coils most of the time since 1968 and when you get into some of the very challenging ghost towns and other sites with a lot of dense iron debris small coils rule. The unit comes with a 9.8" coil and that is not small, and they do not have an accessory coil for it.
I have not seen one nor handled one so I cannot express how I think they perform but just from looking at it and all the other models that come from that region of the globe, I would not get my hopes up for one that they advertise as being "for adults" and "professional" .... what ever that term suggests.

I know this one is $35 more (includes a finds bag, gloves and plastic shovel) but it's twice the detector and I believe you can remove the center rod to fit even the youngest kid. I have the X10 and it's a damn good detector.

I have never used one, but I have heard from a few people, foreign from the USA, who have use the Quest 10, 20, 30, 40 and Pro models and have all told me that, for the money, the detector was well worth it. Mainly for kids, as a loaner, or they have one in their rig for traveling about. Not their primary-use detector, but very good for the price.
I will state that, when asked by an inquisitive shopper, if it is for their own use I encourage them to check out some very good deals on a higher-quality mid-line or higher detector. There are some good deals out there.

Yes, and there are a few other videos I have watched about the Quest X5. Thinking ahead for next spring for two units for grandkids, mainly for freshwater beach hunting. If they take to it, then I can move them up to a better detector as they get more involved in detecting.
