Manticore presale going for 2k online

There’s such a laundry list of costs that come to mind, and I know I don’t know all of them! You are right about the younger generation, I see it every day and wonder how the heck they can afford what they have, let alone some of the houses I see them buying. It’s got to be credit I guess. Grumpy old bast…ER, GUYS like me don’t want to live that way and see more of a one to one type of spending! That dang manticore would cost about a weeks work during this slow time of year, already out of the question on timing! But I don’t hold the price against Minelab-I’ve charged people some high prices just because what they wanted me to do had a high ‘hassle factor’. They decided it was worth it. Now we just have to decide if the manticore is worth it to us! I think the best course of action money-wise is to wait for those early buyers to start unloading them in about 3-6 months, lol…

Yep. Don’t get me wrong I’m sure i spent some money foolishly In my younger days lol. But i also understood how hard it was to earn that money unlike the internet generation. Doing construction work for $5 an hour or less.
Not a typo $5 not $50 an hour.
A week of working in the hot sun for a take home pay of $180 for the week.
And that was only 35-40 years ago when most of these people were still kids not like 100 years ago or anything.
When i was a kid bought a burger at MD ‘s for .39 now the same exact store, same equipment to make the burger sells a big mac for $4.
You can buy 2 burgers which is about equivalent to a big mac minus the little bit of sauce and lettuce for $2. A justifiable 100% increase in price over the years.
Or pay $2 more to get that “BigMac” with a little sauce( thousand island dressing)and lettuce added with a 400% increase.
Its all marketing to make more money somehow.
Same for detectors. For example you can buy 2 legends for same price as a Nox. Or pay double for some sauce and lettuce and the “big mac” name lol.
They have marketing down to literally a science and it works.
Ask anyone up at night watching infomercials who swear their 50 Invicta watches are great. They say Rolex and Timex tell the same time.
I don’t know never been able to afford a Rolex lol. Im sure the rent and parts for the manufacturer costs 5000% more.
“R&D” is a phrase good long term for things like the aerospace and pharmaceutical industries but for things like appliances and metal detectors I think we pretty much reached a ceiling.
Maybe gain a half inch, inch here or there, unmask a thing or two here and there.
Have we reached a point where we suddenly gained 4”-6” and unmasked hoards of of targets never seen before.
Thats like adding a whole beef patty.
Did we find the beef? I guess time will tell.

I DONT think we’ve found the beef yet, lol! Between all my hobbies I think I need to have my head examined sometimes! It’s everything. The consumerism mindset tells us that we NEED every new widget because our old ones have suddenly become useless in light of the new fangled gizmo-they literally say ‘rendering useless’ many times. My grandparents have probably done a pretty good amount of spinning in their graves over the lessons they gave me that I’ve ignored! My grandfather taught me how to fix almost anything, a little electronics knowledge and a whole lotta redneck engineering mean that I really shouldn’t need much more than I already have and keep going, but I’m SPOILED. And I look at the younger generation and call THEM spoiled, lol. That equinox will still find that hidden outlaw loot if I can just manage to get my coil OVER it, but then so could any of the dozen plus machines I’ve owned! Now we might be getting close to finding the beef if we’re not careful…I mean when was the last time we actually used something to the point we wore it out? I have a battle scarred .308 that has had God knows how many rounds through it and still shoots lights out, yet I NEEDED a new .300WM…that I haven’t even used yet, lol! Well I guess we just talked ourselves out of a shiny new toy….

Exactly lol. Spoiled is an understatement nowadays

Since it is so much the same, suppose there is any chance that the Legend technology was mostly copied from the Nox? If so, the Legend should be less money as ML had all the costs involved in making the technology. Just wondering, that's all. HH jim tn
Yes exactly my thoughts. It takes more time and lots more money to build from scratch than to copy another manufacturers hard work. Turkey copies many things like China. Look at Canik pistols... Clones of Walther /CZ and a few others. Canik pistols can be bought for a fraction of the cost of what Walther costs. Heck the shaft design on the simplex and legend are partially colpied from XP as I can use the lower rod from them on my stock XP deus shaft.

So arise the soreness for the brands
Heres the thing though.if there was only one company and nobody “copied” anything then they would have a monopoly and charge outrageous prices as they do. Competition like it or not helps keep the prices down.
I suppose you don’t have the same sediments when it comes to your electric or cable bill that there should only be one company supplying us the service or product.
Maybe because a product you really like and purchased was “copied” and sold for alot less than what you paid
I don’t know. There Are different ways of looking at it.
I for example couldn’t really afford the original so for practically the same exact thing was able to get one one for about half the price.
All goes back to what I originally was saying some people have money to throw and look at things differently than does that don’t.
Not knocking your preference just that different people look at things different.
Perspective is relative

You see this with cell phones Apple being the biggest offender by saying oh your phones old it can't be updated! bull crap!

Exactly, on phone model number 14 and seems phone model number 1 made calls, texts just the same.
Even camera basically the same .
The only thing is more features get added to play with thats what sells new ones. but bottom line raw performance is the same.
Maybe calls texts go through a fraction of a second faster.
Maybe new detectors go a half inch deeper
I guess it depends what you are into.
Some would pay alot more to play with buttons others want simplicity
In the end are you really going to find alot more with a new one or just a different way of finding it

Keep on guessing, DigDog. Me, I am going to have to try a Manticore. HH jim tn
Great. Let me know if it lives up to the hype i cant afford to buy it to see if it does or doesn’t. If it does then that’s another story

Manticore Shipping to Dealers This Week!!

My new detector fiscal years starts Jan 1st, 2023, so I'm good to go. You will have a good idea on its merits before I get my hands on one, however. HH jim tn
