Sovereign xs-2a battery holder pack

Hello my friend is looking for a battery holder for this xs-2a detector with the meter on top so he can sell the detector. I saw a conversion kit made for them but is that the only option ? I can’t seem to find any other holders and was wondering if anyone knows where to get one. He does not have anything in the compartment. Thanks.

I changed them from a drop in pack to the older style that has a wire to connect the battery on a few I bought and sold, Too many problems with the drop in packs as the battery cover is what hold it to make contact, too many time the cover would come loose and the Sovereign quit working or get intermittent.
I will check if I have any of the battery pac and the connector bars around when I was selling them and maybe I have what you need These are 2 AA packs that hold 4 batteries and the connector is put on the top and it has 2 contacts that when installed make contact with the 2 spring in the Sovereign and held in place by the battery cover.

I will try to check in a day or so and get back to you.

I hate to say, but looked though most of my Sovereign stuff and didnt come up with anything good. I must have given what I had to someone just like the extra rechargeable battery I had.
I checked with Amazon and they do have the battery holder that is 2 pack with 4 alkaline battery in each one. without the clip that connect the 2 battery pack it wont work. Now with the 2 battery pack that has 2 snap on connector (like 9 volt batteries) they can be connected, but then it would have to do some wiring like I was doing to those I switch over to the plug in battery instead of the one that the battery door hold the battery to make contact. Run into too many the cover would come lose and the battery would not make a good connection . I also see where the control box has to come apart and change the wire that goes to the built in plate in the battery compartment and slice in a wire with the connectors from the 2 alkaline packs as it needs 12 volts to work and rechargeable batteries may not work for you as 8 of the only put out 9.6 volts as they are only 1.2 volts each where alkaline are 1.5 volts. The rechargeable factory one had 10 cell in them.
Second option is they make rechargeable pack for the Sovereign XS, but this is also a plug in pack , so the wire will still have to be changes to use them. When I was doing them they were nickle metal hydride and a full 12 volts, but the one now are lithium and the pack puts out 11.1 volts, but last longer. I think it would work as its close to the recommend 12 volts.
if your friend just want to get it running in-order to sell it than the 2 holder with the connectors from Amazon and changing to the wire is probably the least expensive at around $20 buck or so if someone close to you can do the wiring for you as it is just a little soldering , or sell it the way it is.
What I am wondering is if he used to use it and know it does work OK once a battery pack is made for it. That this was not bought this way from some one that tried to set some thing internally, or think they can tweek it to be better as some tried this as some people were doing this to only make it worst. Then they sold them on the actions as I bought a few and had to get them back to factory setting before I was able to sell them again.
As you say he wants to sell it and would like to know if it works, if not some may have one and needs some parts. If we know it works as it should there are some like me that love the Sovereigns, might be interested my self if the price is right and depends what all come with it.

I am supposed to get it next week and I will see what he wants and let you know. I know it has the meter on top but not sure what coil. Thanks

Here are some pics of the xs-2 pro with meter. It was working till the battery door and battery were lost. He’s not sure what it’s worth like it is and is open to an offer. You can text me at 903-331-5099 if you want. Thanks

looks like not much interest in the XS2 I thought it too be as they were a great detector and as you see why I changed the batteries to a plug in one as the battery doors wouldnt stay closed and sometimes they would loosen up so they would loose their connection. The meter is probably the 550 meter which I like the 180 more and did a few mods on them to make the meter more accurate for me anyway and could tell a screw cap for a new zinc penny. If this Sovereign work before the battery and door got lost I am interested for $100 and see if I can get it it back in working order so it could be used again.

Is the Meter shown the 550 or the 180
I still have my XL Pro 2-A

Also if the coil is Still working,( 8 inch ) I believe it will work on the Minelab Excalibur (1 ) I had my Excalibur Upgrade to Series 2 and saved the Coil from it in case XS Pro 2 Need a coil Someone can verify this

Gold nugget I will look tomorrow and do better pics. I’ve been dealing with daughter college problems.

The coil is the 10 inch and not sure what the meter is. I listed it all separately on the big e. Thanks
