Legends have defective speakers

I've talked to multiple people, seems the speakers are prone to break. Try running it for 20 hours on speaker, good chance it won't make it, considering most use headphones. A few have stated they sent it in to get repaired, and it broke again after a few days. Beware the speakers are weak on the Nokta legend
Is there a way to determine what detectors received bad speakers ( production date possibly)
I am in the market for a Legend and would prefer not to have issues right out of the box

Maybe someone else knows how you can tell the newer ones with the new speakers but i got mine around when this was originally posted, used primarily speaker and its still going. With that said the speaker is very loud to begin with. I never had it cranked all the way up which from what i heard can cause a problem. Now that you bring it up am curious of everyone who has an old original how many have had their speaker fail. On the positive side the new ones are fine so if it did need replacing your good. I doubt they would replace it with the old style

I'm pretty sure there was an updated speaker used shortly after the Legend was introduced and the problem was verified. If you contact Nokta they probably have a serial number to check against and they seem to be very proactive about remedying any issues. I have made a few inquiries to them and always gotten a prompt response.

I would imagine a small speaker for the Legend would cost maybe 3 dollars from a electronics parts supplier , if my legend speaker was to fail i would simply solder a new one in.
the legend is easy to open up. I would say it is an extremely simple job to fit a new speaker. It looks like the power rating of the speakers fitted to the legend are too low.
Or maybe they are putting low quality cheap china speakers in.

Thats more of a gutsy move i would make unless it became a backup to another waterproof detector i was already using lol

88 mine is sitting along the wall as I have been sitting in my chair. I still see to grab the Multi Kruzer with the nine-inch concentric.

Is it the speaker itself that goes bad or the electronics that drive it?
If it is the speaker I would seek an quality replacement part and install it myself.
If it is the amplifier circuit that goes bad then that is a different story.
