Lower rods on Equinox 700/900

Will the old lower rod from the original Equinox work on the new Equinox rod setup? I know that they were usable on aftermarket cam lock designed rods.
 
Yep it would be nice to have one for my 6” coil to just stay on it’s a very tight fit with the 11” pain to remove and the reinstall,But the new shaft is awesome.

With that said, I'm looking into the possibility of making lower rods for the 700/900 -- at least so that folks can get spares, for some of their other coils, while Minelab does not have lowers available.

I would jump on that. Making those rods.
Maybe you could sell to in country stores.

Odanscoils -- thanks for letting me know that you'd be interested. I've been moving forward on this, as I realize it may be awhile before Minelab has spare lower rods available, and yet many folks already have several coils, from their 600/800, that some will want these new-size lower rods for. I may be able to have these available in about 6 weeks...I'm working up the design this weekend. I'm planning to offer them in standard length, AND plan to do them in "tall-man" versions also...

I usually sell direct to customers, though a few of my products are available through some dealers. Usually, I sell direct, but then if a product really catches on (like my Equinox complete shafts did), I eventually begin to offer them through dealers...

I'd be interested in the tall man complete shaft.

Odanscoils, I won't be able to do complete shafts for the Manticore, at least not anytime soon, and perhaps not at all. I may be able to eventually do lower rods for the Manticore, and possibly middle shafts. BUT -- the upper shaft of the Manticore has two plastic parts epoxied onto the carbon-fiber tube -- the lower portion of the handle assembly, and the "arm cuff track." In other words, the Manticore's handle/control box assembly, and arm cuff, are NOT simply "plug and play" onto an aftermarket shaft, the way the Equinox handle assembly and arm cuff were. BOTH of these parts (handle/control box assembly, and arm cuff) need a RECEIVER piece, glued onto the carbon-fiber tube, for them to attach to the shaft. And these two plastic parts would be very expensive to replicate, and produce -- both requiring purchase of multi-thousand-dollar injection molds, unfortunately...

Sorry. I didn't say that properly.
Just a longer lower rod. With the coil attachment part.

Sounds like something to just wear out.
A poly nut and bolt would work fine.
Been using that my whole life.

Great idea making those lower rods! I'll take 2 please 1 for my 6" and 1 for my Coiltek 10x5 😅

Odanscoils, I hear you on that. I need to do some thinking, with my "engineering brain," and really study that lower rod piece, to try and figure out what advantage Minelab saw by doing it that way (which MAY have been as simple as simply making it easier to screw in the bolt, when not having to fiddle with holding the nut with the other hand, which has always been a bit cumbersome, especially with a smaller coil).

I would hate to opt for NOT threading it (and thus requiring a nut), and find that the design of the upcoming small elliptical coil is such that there's no clearance for a nut... :oops:

But otherwise, I am with you in that I don't immediately see any other possible advantage of designing it to be used without a nut...
