Recuerdo Matrimonial

Well-known member
Found my first Recuerdo Matrimonial. These tokens are a set of 13 that are a Wedding Souvenir or Marriage Memory Coin, usually gold or silver. If it came from a family who was not wealthy, then it would be only gold plated, which I believe this on is. (gold plated) It is a very small coin, so my pictures are not showing the details.

Very cool find. How old is it?

Tony, they have no dates, they are a token I cannot find what year they started using them, I assume 100's of years ago. This one looks to be fairly recent, perhaps a couple of years old and was found perhaps 1/2 inch deep. Most come from South America, I'm in Southern Arizona and since joe took office I find more and more coins from South America. Argentina, Mexico, Salvador to name a few. Once these people cross the boarder and reach a city, they are home free and headed to a town near you.
I should add, that if you were to travel in the deserts near the boarder, there are trails and washes littered with back packs, water bottles, cans, clothes, that have been left.
This token was found in a Park

Well what can say? Just follow the trail and hope for the good stuff…..
