Is the nox 800 dead?

i purchased my machine right before the release of the nox 700 and nox 900. I am kinda pissed but oh well. I can't help to think the 800 is the red headed step child. I am not even looking at selling it cause i would have to take a huge hit on price. I saved my pennies to finally get this machine to only have the feeling I got to get something else...

The 800 is no more "dead" than it made all other detectors "obsolete". You are , however , one of many who have been somewhat unethically treated by Minelab,,,,again. Perhaps you will get lucky and when/if it fails under warranty ML will have established an upgrade policy toward the 900. Feeling lucky?,,,,,,,take it swimming.

I think the 800 is still an excellent machine.

I don't think the Nox 800 quits finding stuff, because it has new brothers and sisters.

Many user can get a great deal now on the Nox 800 now and get a great detector for a lower price.
It is funny to see how my "classic" detectors I own still find good things.
I still use my Tesoro Silver umax some times and have fun. Also my Whites XLT can do very well and I love it.
If you know your Nox 800 you can do 95% of what the Manticore can do.

Not mine… I am still using it and finding plenty..It has paid for itself and I plan to keep using it.
Personally I do not think the new Minelabs will impress me as much as this one did.
I know the equinox 800 impressed you coming out the gate. I remember the day you found that 1909 wheat penny next to a big azz nail 😂

Exactly… and within about ten minutes of using the detector for the very first time too!
I could not even start to count the number of detectors that have been over this site.

I used the 800 since 2008 when it came out my go to machine the only thing I can say is the 900 definitely has better unmasking ability.
Because of one river spot we have hit so hard now it’s like i completely missed coins over 20 silver coins in two trips I can’t say the 900was not able to unmask better if I did not experience it myself just amazing.

For land hunting the 800 is tough to beat! My 600 did well and even tho I updated to the 900, It will hopefully prove itself over the 600.
If the 900 doesn’t prove itself, I’ll provide my shipping address 🫢🤣😂

Sorry Jimmy! Wife is getting the 600! I just got back from looking at a couple of fields and there's too much snow yet. But it is a balmy 39*!!

The 600/800 are dead in that they are being phased out but they are still very capable detectors.

No...!! You have not wasted your money. The model you purchased is a proven detector..!! Until The newer Nox machines have proven there worth,.. (Which is Still Not Known) Your still in the Cutting Edge I'm still running the Equinox 600 which is still 95% the same as the 800 model, in my opinion..? Run your new machine for a year.... Then make a decision.

Mark....2008? You must have had an early prototype!
lol 2018 now i'm seeing the 800 coming with 2 coils for just under what the 900 sells for with 2 coils ! The 900 comes with a better shaft arm cuff fit and finish are far better me it's a no brainer id buy the 900 if you want both coils.
The 800 without the 6" is a great deal now.

I'm going to go to the 900, but mainly because I want to play with a new detector. My buddy has a 900 and my 600 has seen everything deep we've checked that his 900 has seen. Including 2 pin pointer + deep quarters. He had the 800 before his 900 and he does feel the 900 might be a bit better at un-masking in heavy trash. I pulled a 925 Pandora ring from 5" deep yesterday that had a sliver of can slaw and a small rusty screw in the same clod. Had bouncy tid, but flickers of 27 so dug it and got surprised and rewarded. Hence, the 600/800 is not bad either in trash. HH jim tn
