It's about 2.5 inches long. Dug in New Hampshire. Intricate design but no writing.
That's a very interesting find. Can you post more pictures? Does that top come off?
 
Thanks, I think you guys are probably right. I believe its made of silver and now I see that yes, it probably had stones set among the flowers. I should have been more careful when I dug it!
 
Silver would not patina,flowers with stones says it was for ladies.
 
Hard to get size comparison but maybe an ornate cigarette case?
