Loretone Rock Tumbler

RLOH

Well-known member
I have been using this Loretone tumbler to clean my clad coins for 26 years. The model I have is a dual tub. I estimate that I have cleaned close to 100,00 coins with this model without even changing a belt. Every year I tell myself to buy some spare belts, but I always forget. In the first years if detecting I would clean 5 to 7 thousand coins a year. Since I have aged and have gotten more particular about digging every coins signal I come across, my finds are diminishing. I am hoping that this tumbler will "crap out" about the same time I do!

Thats a good investment for your dollar!

Just short of thirty years on my twin-barrel and it runs fine, but I need to replace the two rubber caps/boots that go around the metal sealing caps as they finally started to wear out. But that's after countless cleaning sessions of unbelievable clad coins, plus almost all of my sliver and non-clads, trade tokens, and a lot of neat small artifacts.

One of the best hobby investments I made.

That sounds like a very reliable tumbler!
I have been using a Harbor Freight tumbler for about 15 years, but I have replaced the belt a few times.
5-7,000 coins a year is amazing!!!

Felix, my first three or four years of detecting was all about finding coins. I was a clad hunter. I worked for the local school system and had exclusive access to the fenced and gated football stadium. I can remember days of finding over 150 coins in two hours. I keep journals but was not real specific about where the coins were found. I now write where, when, how many, how deep, and with what detector I am using. Back in those days, it was one detector and how many coins. My first decent detector was a Garrett GTAX 750 and my best month was over 3500 coins. There is no way, I could physically dig anywhere near that amount of coins. Now, I would be more happy to find one silver coin over 100 clad coins. I guess that might be a very common evolution for most people.

I've got a single barrel Lortone ,, bought it for my daughter about 25 yrs ago ,, used very little . I'm hoping to start using it soon .
