Deus II 9" or 11" coil

Hello All, Just wondered those who are buying the Deus II which coil will you go for ( 9" or 11") and why?
I have both, the 11 reports better on deeper targets but the 9 is still plenty deep.
The 9 is definitely more pleasant to swing.

I have the 9 and 11 for my D1. I use the 11" coil 90% of the time.
I like the 9" for working furrows and other areas where the 11" is more of a hinderance.

In my experience, the 11" coil is "for all intents and purposes" as good as the 9" in trashy areas.
Just like GazinUK said, slow down a little "and/or" raise the reactivity a little.

I bought the machine with the 11” coil, then added the 9” coil. If I had it to do again I would get it with the 9”, and add the 13” for open fields, and omit the 11” all together. Once I pick up the 13”, the 11 will probably only be used if the battery in the one I am using runs down.

I primarily beach hunt, so I went with the 11". My 13x11" DD arrived today. If I had it to do over again, I'd buy the 9" and the 13x11" DD.

I have the 11” and would prefer the 9” probably sell my 11” if anyone’s interested it’s like new

I got the D2 with the 9" and just ordered the 13" skipping over the 11" . . . glad my thinking parallels with yours.

I agree! I just picked up a 11 inch and will be using it mostly at the beach and open areas.
Good luck with it Ray glad it made it ok.

I've been depth testing the 9" coil against the 13" for the D2 today.
The 9" is a sweet coil. I was in the farmers field with a couple of dimes. One was buried 8-1/2" and the other at 10-1/2".
Both were compacted in lifts. The soil was just a bit moist and medium mineralization. Very little EMI that I heard.

The 9" coil hit and ID'd properly (91) the 8-1/2" dime but won't get the 10-1/2". The 13" coil hits the 10-1/2" dime with the proper tone but the numbers were jumpy. It hits the 8-1/2" dime and ID's correctly, loud and clear.

I'm so glad that the bigger coil is a tad deeper, Whew! . . . I wouldn't have been a happy boy if it wasn't. That bugger wasn't cheap.
Swung the bigger coil after that testing, in an area that I hunted many a times, same field. I was digging deep poultry bands . . . thought I cleaned them out with my other detectors. They read in the low 60's but so do 1/2 dimes and Trimes . . .gotta dig em. PITA!

Steve, glad you happy with that testing. I use the 11 and enjoy this similar test here in NJ. I am surprised at the half dime and trimes. I’ll have to test those soon.

Yes, you’re right. I definitely need to get out to more productive areas. I have been talking about it so now is the time to go.
