Does anyone know if a COILTEK all terrain circular 15 inch coil (orange in color) can be connected to an Equinox 800? I used to have it in my Excal II but had removed it. There is no connector on it.

If yes, does anyone know if it can perform better than the large Equinox 800 coil?

Nope....won't work....sorry.
Starting with the CTX, the multi-freq ML's have dedicated/patented circuitry in the coil to aid in processing.

This has some advantages with cleaner signals (some processing done at the coil, rather that going down the coil cable to the 'box').
However, MFG's wanting to make compatible coils with these detectors must sign a licensing agreement (and pay, of course) with ML to include the processing chips.

That's why everyone and their brother made accessory coils for the eTrac and earlier units, but you'll only see a couple of third-party coils for the CTX/Equinox 600/800/700/900.
