Odd Find

Well-known member
I had a fun hunt in a local park today. No silver coins and no rings but I did find almost $5 in clad, one wheatie, one large bronze necklace, a small silver pendant, 2 Alabama Tax tokens, and a really odd nickel looking thingy. The backside looks like a nickel. It is the same width of a nickel but there is no front side. Some kid toy I guess but its odd.

Brings to mind the story of the hollow nickel the FBI found back in the 50s. The Soviets were hiding microfilm in them during the cold war. Anyway very cool find. Mark

I remember a prank toy years ago that looked like a nickel, but it was hollow and you could put a small amount of water water in it and squirt someone by squeezing it… there was a small hole in it.

I think this is the same thing I had back in the late 50s. You use it to show you can turn a nickel into a dime, you put it on top of a dime as it fits easy and with it laying on a table you have a magnet in the palm of your hand and this will pick the nickle up so only a dime is left. It was a magic trick and as you see there was a iron piece inside the nickel that the stick to the magnet and the dime would not and be laying there are to changed the nickle to a dime. Cool find!!

I dug a leather like bracelet awhile back that had a no date Buff as the bling in the center. That looks eerily the same minus the band.
