How to check for the Halo effect using Manticore demonstration

Nice vid. But what, if iron (with halo) will mask a good target?
To be sure you have to destroy the halo. That's the dilemma with display machines.
With an etrac.......minelab FBS......
If you disc the iron only...... the good target will come thru if any of the good target is visible and the coil passes over the good target before the iron.

Yes, and this is the same with some other detectors by different manufacturers. Just wanted to mention this.
Every now and than I dig IRON just to clarify IT IS iron ( if target is questionable).
 (in most cases I don't know which buried metal the coils field strikes first.)
But you are correct, if you do cherry picking by display and discrimination/filtering you may leave a lot of good stuff;
but you're sure only to dig the undoubted items. Not that much different stuff, but no trash at all (hopefully).

I've found a long probe. Say 12" 1/4" screwdriver.
Will usually destroy the Halo piercing near the pinpointed Target with just a wiggle. Leaving any good targets clearly heard. Try it.
Though somehow my Sovereign GT does this in the null of iron. Clearly nailing the good stuff.

It looks like he's turning on pinpoint directly over the target. Then showing another target.
Correct me if I'm wrong.
You turn on pinpoint to the side of target
Turning it on over target rejects it out.
nope.....it locks it in and shrinks it to correctly id it.....kind of like the etrac using hi-rise pinpointing

Hmmm
I've never been able to get a good pinpoint by turning on pinpoint directly over the target
I've always moved to the side in a clear area and hit pinpoint for best pinpointing.
This is how my other Minelabs worked.
I'm new to the Manticore guess I'll try it.
I do know of the iron delay on swing and iron shift on pinpoint. Though not like this.

That is how the etrac works....and even a pinpointer..... if shrinks the target , like eliminating a halo effect would do.
As always ...some things are not in the manuals.
