Thanks Elmy. I did the 110 today

Went to a local park here in Ct today to try the 110 program. First time there. 2 nice silver dimes and a few wheaties.
My question? I have never found an Indian Head/ Buffalo Nickel with the Etrac.
Can someone explain to me what I’m missing? What do they ring up as ? Is it a deep tone or a high tone? 🤷‍♂️
For me the Buffaloes I’ve dug were all mid tone signals and solid 12-12. The V nickel was the same as far as Indian head cenr I forgot but I’ve dug a few with the Etrac. Good lick

@ silver dimes and a few wheaties.... not too bad.....
With the 110 pattern, an indian head penny 1864-1909 will hit within the large red box if it is a clean unmasked target.....with a mid tone sound....35-36-37
Clean Nickels hit the 11-12-13 box.....low tone...... the tone on each target gets higher as you move from 01 to 50 , left to right across the 110 pattern shown.

Great. Thank you for your help. I’m gonna find me a buffalo one of these days. Hopefully soon. Really appreciate your support.

The 110 program is a beginning point, a setup that anyone can use to find silver and good targets, usually with the first few times they use it.
There are many others on this forum that are very experienced with the E-trac and are willing to help you along to finding more good targets
as you continue using your detector.....never be afraid to ask a question. From the 110 program you will learn the sounds and get to know your
E-trac and advance to more open patterns and settings according to your style of hunting.
Welcome to the best of the forums for information.

Elmy, you got that right about the best forums for information. I learned plenty of information when I was using the Explorer II.
Plenty of good folks on here helping others!

Thank you so much for your help. I don’t understand the numbers or the correct tones but I’m working on it. With the 110 program should I be digging all the high tones?

Actually the 110 is a beep and dig.....after awhile you will recognize the sounds of a good target vrs a trash target.....the 110 has it all setup to find the clean signals and eliminate a lot of the trash but not all of it.....the only part of it that conflicts with targets is the 35 to 37 conduct part ......you will dig zinc pennies that sound like Indian head cents. You get these mostly everywhere modern coins were carried around. Even on a 1848 homestead, I have found clad quarters and zinc's....farmer's lost them in the fields
when they were working on the machinery or loading grain or seed, maybe bailing hay.
As far as the high tones the 40 to 49 is the place where they come in at.....listen to each target by sound and try to guess what it might be by sound.
The 110 helps you there as most clean coins fall within it's patterns.....but the sound of a silver target is really a thrill out in the field detecting.
The round sound of a coin is something that you must learn all by yourself out in the wild.
We are here for you and are watching and listening and someone will help.....if needed.

Thank you so much. I’m slowly going through your posts and sucking up as much as I can. I’m so glad there are people like you that are willing to share your experiences

Tony do you have any programs for the Explorer xs ?
I owned the EXP 2 not XS but it’s similar. I used Andy Sabisch‘s Explorer book for programs To get me started, I maxed out variations and tones, left deep off and used Ferrous tones mostly. Had thresholdI just slightly on, sensitivity was maxed. If you can hear a warble sound, you might have a deep silver!
Tony
PS: look up top for the sticky notes from past users, there were several great posts on ‘How to set up. Explorers. And what the machine is telling you? Some pictures too.
