I went back to the demolition site yesterday, and found a few coins, but nothing old.
I also found this item and at first thought it was a dog tag.
It looks pretty old and I am thinking it is a fob for a key or watch maybe?
It measures about 1 5/8”x3/4”.
If anyone has any ideas about it, let me know.

That looks very old. Possibly late 1800’s. Very nice find Felix!!

I found a set of keys while trout fishing some years ago and it had a metal tag that stated “if found return postage guaranteed”… all I had to do was drop the keys in a mailbox.
I did find a little information on this firm.. they started in 1906, and ceased to exist about 78 years later or got absorbed by another firm.

It is a key fob that were advertising also, it had a chain on it where you put your keys on it and if you found it and sent back to the advertiser on the fob they had a list who had this fob number and sent it back the owner.
These are always a good find as many advertiser are no longer around and they do make some interesting topic to talk about.
I dont think anyone around here ever sent one back as they been in the ground a while and forgot about.

This could possibly be a fire insurance tag. These were affixed to houses in the early 1800's by insurance companies. Fire companies were often contracted by insurance companies and in the event of fire (believe it or not), the company would only extinguish the fire if insured. If this is the case, this would be a rare and terrific find. Either way, still a neat find. Nice job
