Tick protection strategies

I’m seeing folks posting about the dreaded little tick bastages being out already and that this year expected to be a bad one due to mild winter. Be interesting to find out how people cope with the scourge. Some say garlic soft gels and they won’t bite, and many advocate permethrin. What is the proper, safe way to use permethrin? I’m thinking of dedicated detecting pants treated heavily. What about slick pants like some gym sweats. Which would be easy to flick the little demons off cause they won’t sling so hard, and if light color, would be easy to see them and get ‘em off before you get back in your car. What about socks over pant legs? Anyone try flea collars around the ankles like solders use in Middle East climates? Oh, here’s my personal warning in woods: pee with caution - not where you want to get bit,, one of the most unpleasant things that I’ve ever experienced- I will spare you the miserable details if you don’t mind.

The best I use is on your clothes, NOT on your skin. I buy used buy from Wally-World "Sawyer" tick spray for clothes [may be another name ]. Not only repel ticks, it actually kill ticks & chiggers.
IT will kill mosquitoes but they have to be on your clothes tho. In the evening before go out, spray socks, then inside leg pants, then on the outside pants -
then the shirt if you will be in brush, etc. I screwed some plastic clothesline pins on a plastic clothes hanger to stick the clothes on. I put then over the
shower rod in the bathroom to spray. You want the spray to be dry so I wait for next morning. The spray works several days, course, after several days in hot days, you can just stand the pants in a corner some where LOL

Don't spray CATs with it, it will kill them, I understand it don't kill dogs tho ????

any way, it's the best

I got some permethrin 13 % at a farm store for cows etc. Can I use it for ticks on my clothes if I can how much should I dilute it? It’s a liquid.Hope there’s some farmers out there who know.
