1908 William Jennings Bryan Presidential Election Fob / Big Canadian Silver

It has been a long winter but most of the snow finally melted, and I was able to get out and do some hunting.
All finds were found in public city parks, old schools and 1 fairground with my Minelab eTrac metal detector.
Most of the finds were pulled last weekend in South Dakota. It wasn't the best weather, but I was happy to get out and hit some old targets.

My favorite find has to be the 1908 William Jennings Bryan Presidential Election Fob. Bryan lost in the 1908 Presidential Election to William Taft. The fob was pulled in South Dakota.
If you remember back to the beginning of last year, I pulled a 1908 "TAFT" Presidential Election Fob. That came from Minnesota. What are the chances that I pulled fobs for both the winner and loser of the 1908 Presidential Election??

I was also glad to get my first ever Canadian Half Dollar. It isn't real old (1961) but I will take it. The big coin is 80% silver. The gouges on it are old, so it must have gotten hit by a lawnmower many years ago.
Another unique find was that old casted silver cat pendant. That was a very deep target for how small it was (about 8 inches). I am sure it has some good age as I pulled V nickels close to it a few years ago.

thanks for looking!
Dave

Way to go Dave!!
You got a great start this year and hope it will continued or get better as the year goes on.
This shows that there is places to detect up in this area, but you have to research a little.

Excellent haul there! A lot of digging, but those days are enjoyable. The Fob is super cool, congrats.

Very interesting finds Dave!
That campaign fob is really a great find, especially since you have the other one too!
That is the first Canadian half dollar I have ever seen.
Thanks for posting these finds!!

Very nice first hunt. Good on the fob and like the cast silver cat. Hate those lawn mower dings. Found a Peace dollar on a golf course being renovated back in Jan and it had tangled with a mower. Good start on your season. HH jim tn

It simply reenforces that patience and work ethics pays off at some point. Either that or just plain dumb luck…….
Either way, you had a good hunt!!!!

Hi Dave, planning on a fishing trip the end of May in the Park Rapids, area, so have been watching some of the lakes web cams for ice out. Notice you all have winter back with some decent amounts of snow accumulating in some places. Notice Fargo is getting a decent dose. Sure glad you got that recent hunt in. Take care! HH Jim tn

Thanks for looking Rick! Yes, researching, going slow and settings makes alot of difference in finding the old stuff.
