I was out yestday on a woodland site with d2 and 9inch coil it’s ancient with very old tree stumps ,gb was 94 and a clean site…clay soil …
I got a solid 35 tid and good audio with prog 9 and prog 6 .I switched to standard prog 10 to check it for iron and it was silent ,,no35 tid or iron grunt just nothing

How can this be ,was the target too deep? I can’t figure why it was silent when all the other progs said 35..tid

I found nothing yet but will go back to dig it deeper as it maybe a gold item..

One of my first posts after getting the D2 was about the phantom 35, still get them now, soil or ceramics I'm guessing.

I can't say what the TID was but "clinkers" will give you a nice soft signal in certain programs at that TID range.
They are burnt coal residue and often found at old homestead sites. They are often fairly lightweight, look like a stone, and blend in nicely with the dirt.
I can't remember if a pinpointer will detect them as it's been a while since I found one.
There is a way to notch them out, I think it's in ground balance settings. You will have to look it up because I can't remember how to do it and D2 might be different.

Is it grey and wet? Might be ashes.

Went back armed with 2 probes Nokta pulse dive and MI4 .the Nokta was silent and mi4 was buzzing on tiny bits i couldnt see.or find…
Back with d1 And d2 to give it a thorough check again in case it’s deep gold target

Sorry I missed you said the target was 35 vid. Not sure Ground Notch goes that low. You’ll have to check. If Gold Field doesn’t hit it, I say forget it.

I found
High frequencies seem to zero in tiny bits of crapola,,when using the d1 oval coil so will try 4khz for depth in Deus mono

My concern is your ground balance number. Maybe try setting it at 90 for better stability. Sure sounds like a mineral pocket of some sort and wet ashes would be top on my list. When in doubt...

Yea gb needs to be accurate
Ground balance is a touchy control. Add to that Ground Sensitivity control if you use Tracking or Pumping and Gold Field “Grab”. Default is “6” but many say to turn it down to “4” so it’s not so touchy. ANd if there is iron present the Tracking can be off. But any time you run GB over 90 you risk instability, “...more likely to false and certain hot rocks will produce a more pronounced response.”.

Went back with d1 and x35 9 inch coil for boost mode and it excelled ,a good solid signal with no numbers and xy screen shows a horizontal figure which looks like coin deep..so needs a good shovel to dig it..fancy a x35 11 inch coil as well..
