Mystery Bag with gold items

Hello All,
On my last beach hunt I went at an off time, not the best tides or crowds and I was the only one out hunting. After about three hours I had found a couple dollars in change and a piece of a copper chain that was probably a plated bracelet. Then I noticed a little piece of cloth sticking out of the wet sand. I don’t know about you guys but I always swing over clothing and plastic bags. I have a loud signal on my Deus 2 (I forgot the numbers) so I scooped it out. It was a white cotton piece of cloth tightly tied off and it had a bunch of heavy stuff in it. My first thought was that it was a joke that another detectorist was playing by filling a bag up with crusty pennies, but then I noticed some bigger sized coins in it. I threw it in my finds bag and figured I’d check it out when I got home. After I got home and rinsed off my gear I got a knife and cut into the cloth. The first thing I saw was the gold chain. Then I dumped it all on to a frisbee. It contained; pyrite rock, gold chain stamped 18k, gold ring stamped 18k, gold religious figure stamped 18k, $1.75 in quarters, cough drop wrappers, Jade heart, a King of Diamonds poker card, a spool of blue thread, a needle, and a safety pin.
I’m pretty sure I found a memorial tossed into the ocean for someone. I tested the gold and none of it passed 18k acid test but it all passed 10k. I just learned that acid tests expire. My kit is many years old so I I’ll need to retest after I get a new kit. The ring alone weighs 23.7g. My friend that knows about the significance of rocks said the pyrite stone was for good luck. I guess it worked!
I debated whether to post this find because I’m sure some people are of the opinion that I should sew it all back up and toss it back into the sea. I’m more of the opinion that the person that threw this into the ocean got to say their goodbyes and best wishes to their loved one.
Anyway, very interesting find!

HH
