Here is a pic of a small men’s 14kt band in wet saltwater sand at one foot. I could detect it with all metal/pinpoint mode on my Excalibur 1000 (original Excal, not Excal II).

Can anyone beat this depth?

I never did any test like you have but minelabs will go deep. My Explorer 2 with a WOT coil was very heavy and deep on The beach.Dam thing wore me out.

That is great depth on a small gold ring,the excal is still a force to be reckoned with.

My only real complaint about the Impulse AQ LTD is that it is susceptible to EMI that the Excal is not bothered by. I take both the Impulse AQ and an Excal to the beach so that if I hit an area with a lot of EMI that is killing the AQ, I can go grab the Excal. I can say positively that I dig way more earring backs with the AQ than I do with the Excal and while most are stainless steel, some are gold. Then there was this hunt from last year where I suspect the Excal would have found everything I got with the AQ, but one just never knows for sure (10k large chain, three rings, one of them white gold and other assorted stuff all from one small cut in the water):

Agree on the EMI and keep my excal in case it’s an issue. Nice haul shown also! Still no gold chains yet for me.
