Does Nokta Makro not honor their warranty?

I bought a Legend last March brand new from a sponsor on here. I decided to sell it this spring. I sold it to a person in Canada. Well the speaker went out and now Nokta Makro is telling him since he bought the detector used the warranty is not valid. He will have to pay $100 per hour plus parts to fix it. The warranty conditions posted on their website never says the warranty is not transferable or is void if you buy one used. I hope they see this and can make good on this issue.

The warranty does not imply that the coverage is transferable to another buyer either , certainly an oversight in stating the conditions as I would assume it was transferable as well. If I remember right Fisher does not transfer warranty to second user/owner as well so it's not an unheard of situation. What surprises me more is that I believe there was a bit of an issue with the speakers to begin with and the warranty does refer to parts that may be discovered to be faulty at a later date. Keep us posted

Identical post...

Curious did Nokta actually deny the warranty or is it just something a dealer said. Nokta has always come through and made good, some dealers not so much. If its a dealer that gave that info definitely contact Nokta directly and let them know what is going on. Wouldn’t be the first time certain dealers blew off a customer on warranty. Keep us posted.

Probably contributed to their eventual going out of business, but I can remember buying 5-10 year old used Tesoro detectors, sending them in to be tested/calibrated and repaired when I purchased them and then periodically throughout the years that I used them. Half the time they would replace the coil too for free. They never asked a single question about where it was purchased, when, or by whom.

So did anyone actually try and contact Nokta and get it from them or is this just a dealer blowing someone off? I find it hard to believe Nokta would not repair it

And Tesoro is also out of business probably partially because of it. I would prefer a little warranty rule enforcement and still have them around. Try getting your Tesoro fixed now and see how much it is.

Towards the end Tesoro started charging $50 for detector checks and repairs if not the original owner which was not bad since the warranty was not transferable.
I sent a used one back and as you stated, they also replaced the coil with no extra charge other that the one time fee.
One thing I noticed is that some people were buying brand new detectors and then sending them in for a tuneup a month later because they complained they could not find anything..
No company can stay in business doing free service on used equipment for free.
They were a great company with outstanding service, and I hate to see them close down.

Thats just it. Some people will take advantage of things and ruin it for everyone else. The level of greed and selfishness never ceases to amaze me

Pay a tv repair man 40 dollars to solder in a new speaker save a load of money.

I would still try to contact Nokta first, or did you? Nobody ever said how they found out it wouldn’t be covered. Im willing to bet Nokta would fix it especially if this information came from a dealer or someone who is just not a fan of Nokta.
Lets hear it. If we don’t i think we know the answer.

I purchased second hand and they honored the warranty for speaker problem

That was the first thing I said. You quoted my post but didn't read it?

Our warranty is transferrable. The issue here was the fact that the unit was sold in the USA and the user wanted to get it serviced in Canada. Please understand that the distributor is also the service center. And most of the time, distributors do not want to service a product that was sold in another country. I already responded to Bill and asked him to tell the person to contact us directly.

Nokta has proven time after time to be one of the best in customer service. It was hard to believe they wouldn’t have warrantied something under reasonable circumstances
