Legend settings?

I have been looking for years for my uncle’s class ring he lost I think in 1957. So the question is what are the best settings to find gold with the legend? Keep in mind the area he lost the ring was a garden back then so the ground has been turned over hard telling how many times since then.

Depends on ground conditions in your area

A big class ring you should be able to pick that up with factory default settings
Use whatever mode you are searching in
Ex. In a park use park in a field use field
Weather the area is loaded with iron or other conditions you can tweak it to help but would need more specifics

Pretty straight forward if the target is a larger class ring. Regardless of frequency chosen it will most likely be above 20 on the VDI and possibly as high as 40. I dug one with a Deus 1 that was a solid 71 and huge one on an etrac that was a 12-12 , the other end of the spectrum. Fortunately it sounds like it's not a heavy trash area and you can take the time to dig all the solid targets.

The one thing to remember with class rings is listen to the clarity of the tone hits. Teens and 20s as well as low 40s and IF junk will usually go “ker-chunk” or jump numbers by five or more. Zincolns hit pretty consistent as do the bigger rings. Another factor is the karat rating, that seems to bend the basic rules a bit.

Basically it can possibly be any number between 5 and 50 lol
If you never dig all you will never know all the possibilities just probabilities
I think if you surveyed every detectorist and asked what number jewelry came in as, it would probably cover the entire spectrum.
Just hunting in general for whatever you can afford some leeway but specifically looking for something will you chance not digging a signal.
I suppose a good example would be law enforcement looking for a piece of evidence in a specific area. Would they say, no i don’t like the number that gave so im going to skip it.
