.58 caliber minnies come in at 16 on my 800, the charts show 18, and hunting partners 800 they come in at 18, running in field 2 with no adjustments. Not a problem, just wondering why the difference. Both detectors in the most current update.

Run both of them through a test garden. Is this the only target that shows discrepancies between the two Equinox detectors? If no test garden, throw some clad on the ground and compare. If there is still a difference in the two machines, time to contact Minelab. Good luck.

I really dig this hobby!

Try testing both of the machines after a factory reset for an equitable test and then noise cancel. That should give you a more equitable test between the two machines.

Try to find a more common differentiator target and you’ll get better feedback from users.

I air tested a .58 minnie with my 600 and got a range of 17-20 on the same bullet. Might have something to do with the shape.

I think you are all over it Jimmy!! I have noticed I can tell the irregular shape of the target by the variance of the numbers compared to the steady id of a round target laying flat- Equinox or the ctx. You are going to nail some good finds with your excellent perception. Just need a little practice on the iron and your set :detecting:
