Perfect Pants For Metal Detecting!!!!

I thoguht I would share this with everyone. I found what for me is the PERFECT pair of pants for metal detecting. I ordered a pair of these last week and they are Awesome. They are made by Duluth Trading Copany and are called Fire House Pants. They Very Very durable, tripple stitched, water resistant and come with Built In Knee Pads!! I really like the knee pad feature as before I would wear strap on knee pads and they would constantly come loose, need readjusted or retighted....With these pants I dont have to worry about any of that. Best of all they have a LIFETIME Warranty. If they rip, tear, wear out, stain they will replace them for free!!! They were $64 with free shipping, yes its a bit pricey for a pair of jeans, however they are guarenteed for life, how can you go wrong with that? Anyways, just thought I would pass it along to others. Happy Detecting!

That sounds like a great deal to me  All I would have to do to keep my waist from expanding to test the lifetime warranty.

Bells and whistles are nice, but nothing will substitute for the basic understanding of the hobby.

Haha, good point, I didn't think about that. I guess there will be some incentive to keep my beer gut from expanding!

I like the in-built knee pads. Not liking to wear knee pads in public places like parks (in fields and such, I don't have a problem...it's just me!) I've gone through a few pairs of jeans wearing out the knees. I may just get me a pair!

Thanks for the link Digger62864. They look awesome. I can't tell you how many pair of jeans I tore up while detecting.

the knee pads themselves are 9.50 extra...the pants have a pocket system to fit them.
they look like great detecting pants!

Okay in researching these pants I had to correct the name that they were first referred to from "Fire House Pants" to "Fire Hose Pants" they get there name from the fact that the fabric they're made of is what was just to jacket the fire hoses that fire departments use on the fire trucks.
I noticed in some reviews on them that are HEAVY so my question is, is the weight going to be a problem with these in the heat of summer? I mean a pair of pants that weigh POUNDS is going to get hot and heavy. Now, fall or spring I wouldn't see this as much of a problem.

The most popular trousers or infact any form of detecting clothing over here in the UK is ex-army Camo gear that can be picked up from many online outlets for a very small financial outlay, they are very hard wearing and also most are totally waterproof and will last years. If they get caked in mud you just throw them in the washing machine and they are as good as new again.

Mark,
I have only had mine for a week now, so I don't know how hot they will be in the summer. My guess is you will get pretty warm with them on, but I'm not sure if they will be any more hot than regular jeans. The material they are made out of is very heavy, however they really don't seem any heavier weight wise than normal jeans. I have went out detecting in them several times so far and they are very comfortable. I couldn't be happier with them.

Hey Lawsonland...I get my detecting trousers from TSC, I'm sure they have them at Farm and Fleet, or Menards...'CE Schmidt Workwear' khakis, super light cotton, all weather, I wear an Underarmour lower skinny if its sub 20's cold..great room in the crotch and cheap..really comfortable and take a hell of a beating....no problem at all with chafing in high heat going 'commando' when the situation merits...

In the hot Summer, I'm convinced the best detecting pants are either none at all, assless chaps, or possibly a kilt, all of which will probably attract some unwanted attention!....but alas, I live in the conservative heartland, where adult gentlemen of good repute are expected to wear some sort of pantaloon configuration at all times, even indoors!...:lmfao:...One things for sure, the standard blue jeans or just any normal pants can't take all the 'ups and downs' we do without blowing out the crotch or seat or knees...detecting is tough on pants!

I think I'm gonna straight Goodwill from now on, maybe in a full tuxedo, top hat, monocle, and a cumberbund!, like Mr. Peanut! except in lieu of the cane, I'll swing the metal stick!, ... In case any attractive rich ladies show up...a guy like me with no naturally attractive physical attributes to the fairer sex, zero 'game' in that regard, miniscule vocabulary and bank account, and a 'chump' ride to boot, has to look sharp in the event of that outside possibility!...

I dont think my Wife will mind if some super rich dame snipes me off her hands, although I havnt asked her, if she gets fair market value in the form of a dowry, I could probably convince her to make the trade...in fact, after wearing me out for 35+ years, and seeing no actual financial benefit, she should be happy to make the deal! I believe me bringing home a pair of high dollar FireHose pants for 'metal detecting' might push her right over the edge, they do look too fancy and expensive and she would be on to me in no time! Although the Duluth Trading long tees I might sneak past her,...:especially if theres a nasty clog in the crapper or under the sink she wants me to manually fix...shrug:

I might call and ask Duluth if they have any 'blems' or slightly stained returns...that more suits my style and I bet I can sneak them on through as a 2 dollar 'garage sale' find!!... If not, I'll ask them about their 'return policy'...if its leniant, maybe I'll buy a pair, go commando all Summer and return them in the Fall? Good deal for somebody!

They look real good, so I had to get a pair and they will be navy blue as they are only $49 plus the knee pads. They look well made and don't think the crouch will split and what I see are waterproof so the wet ground wont affect them like reg jeans. The biggest thing I like will be the knee pads that will stay in place without binding on the back of my legs from those rubber straps that hold them in place.

Glad to see them posted as I never knew there was pant like these.
