Whites IDX Pro with Bill's mods or new detector like F70, AT Pro, etc

Good day all, It has been years since I posted and in the meantime I traded my DFX (wish I hadn't) and my Classic ID SL I purchased the year I got out of the Marines, 1997, is on the Fritz and I want a new detector. I saw an IDX pro for $399. Should I snatch it up or just get an F70, Teknetics T2, AT Pro, or save up for the Whites m7? I have a shadow x5 a whites coimmaster, and an f22.

You can’t beat a Teknetics Patriot (Rebadged F70) for $399. Super fast, deep, and stable.

Hey thanks a bunch I'm trying to actually fix my classic SL but I can't find the little screws and nuts that attach the ground and the connector plug

Welcome to the Forum....all I can say is to give a call to White's in Sweet Home OR. The one time I used them it did not cost me anything other than the shipping...GL and HH

" If in doubt, dig it out"

I use various analog detectors, knobs and switches rule.

$399 is a lot of money for an IDX Pro. It should be more in the $200 range. Even assuming you could get that IDX for $200, I'd recommend looking for a good used MXT or M6. They are both very similar to your old Classic ID but with a lot of nice upgrades. Performance on the MXT or M6 is excellent, and should equal or exceed your old DFX as well. And either the MXT or M6 can be found fairly regularly in good used condition for $300-400 if you look on the classifieds here on Findmall or on other sites. While repair of your old Classic shouldn't be too expensive, it'll still be $100 or so with shipping and all, so why not put the $$ towards and treat yourself to a newer detector.

Current detectors: Minelab Equinox, White's V3i, MXT, XL Pro
Past: Minelab CTX 3030, White's XLT, 6000D Series 3, Coinmaster 2DB, Fisher Gold Bug Pro, + many others
Location: Western Idaho

You can buy a new Tek Patriot (same as F-70)

and save $200 (and they are all from Dave Johnson and his merry band of elves!) :buds:
An F-75 & T2 are much the same-biggest difference is in the 'front end' plus T-2's do not have concentrics
(Mr.Bill did not charge that high a price on a modded IDX when he was doing them).
When you've been here longer you can list them at Finds Classified foruns

Thanks again Vlad! My choices are sure vast. I tried a Fisher for the first time today and was impressed. It was an F22 The area was all charcoal and junk and it picked out plenty of coins and brass amongst the highly trashy area.

Hi bud,
I used an M6 for years over here in England and it is one of the great detector designs.I used mine with an 8x6 butterfly coil and it performed great on our ancient sites picking out small hammered and roman coins.I know you dont search for such coins over there but it just proves what the machine is capable of.
The M6 is also one of the only single frequency designs that actually works great on saltwater beaches......it has genuine wet sand performance.
Simple,effective and well built......its a classic.
