Has anyone ever compared a xs to a safari? They look similar but I was wondering if one was faster or if there were any big differences..thanks

The XS is older and they've just been in the field being used longer, maybe more prone to something going wrong due to age...I've never heard anyone say anything bad about the Safari, and they can both use ALL of the e-series coils...which is ALOT!

I just went over the manual online for the Safari. I didn't see a smart screen where the detected target appears on the screen as an Icon. For instance, if a silver coin is detected, the icon appears in the upper right of the screen.
If the Safari only tells you what it thinks the object is, I'd think the XS is a better in that department. However, in trash, the Safari might be better. It may have a quicker re-set going from trash target to a close coin. I just don't know for sure.
It looks like the Safari would be easier to switch to different programs.

If it were me, I'd probably just save a few hundred more and get an E-trac.

That's what I did I love my E trac even though I never had the XS I do have the Explorer SE Pro and love that machine as well.

Do you think the Etrac finds you more silver?

I was just curious about the explorer xs since I've never owned one, and was looking at it and the Safari.
I've owned a few etrac since they've come out, and a explorer se before the etrac.Personally I wouldn't pay more for a etrac , not any better than a explorer imo

I think it does Tony because of the ID accuracy for me cuts down digging clads and it seems to go a little deeper than my explorer. But that's just me.

There is a lot to love with the Minelab FBS detectors. I have used the XS and it worked great. The two complaints from long time XS users is that as this model is made of a type plastic that cracks easily and that their is a delay between audio and screen display on targets.....always go by audio
