Dusted the SE Pro Off Today

I have been using the Equinox 600 for the last couple of weeks and have been bothered by the ergonomics of the handle so today the SE got the call. I have wireless headphones for the Nox so being tethered to a cord was a challenge. I decided to detect a site where I had one of my best days for silver. I have tried this exact spot several times since that day, but with no success. I took a small narrow strip of ground along a crumbling blacktop road and made five slow, thorough passes. No more silver, but six wheat pennies and three bingo rounds. All very deep and all very clear signals. The SE is still a very relevant detector. As heavy as it is, three hours of detecting caused no wrist-elbow pain.

Congrats! I hear you I would not part with my Explorer. I love digging my Wheaties!

Congratulations on those finds. I for one miss the display screen on my Exp II.

Some folks are saying the NOX needs a counter balance, is that what your handle problem is, or something different?

Loosen the coil and let it ride over the ground should lighten the load.Tough to find a better unit for silver...period...
PS: nice to see your going strong RL...

Dan, I am going, but not too strong. Cold weather sure takes it's toll on these old bones. Hopefully you got out some this season.

Tony, it is not a balance problem. The handle on the Nox is too straight and upright. Most people find it hard to believe that such a light detector could cause these issues. I need an "S" handle similar to a Whites M6 or IDX Pro. I have seen many guys do this type of modification, but I am not that kind of guy.

There are a few folks on the Equinox forum that stated they need to make a counterbalance for it.

You are the first to state using an S Handle, but I like it.

I’m like you, I stopped tinkering with things but this time I might just have to try.
