Here's a thread with details on using Whites arm cups, lower carbon fiber Whites shafts, and other mods to lighten up the Sovereign. Also contains tips from Neil and others on things like how to drill out and use the Minelab box clip on another shaft (easy), and other such great info for building custom or light weight shafts. I dropped a total of about one and a half pounds (!!!) off the stock weight of my GT by building a lighter shaft and doing a few other mods, all covered in this thread with pictures. Many ways to save weight or do other useful mods. For instance, the stock GT arm cup weighs HALF A POUND! Also tips on MUCH more comfortable hand grips using bike end bars and whatever grip cover from a bike shop strikes your fancy, and so on...,1164138,page=1

Also, here's a thread about some killer replacement shafts for the Sovereign and Excal, along with info about detecting stands for the Sovereign, and other such info like a picture of the Sun Ray inline probe set up nicely on a Sovereign's shaft, along with various other bits of accessory related info...,1657050,1657832#msg-1657832

One tip from me for now...I used to use a stand for my GT that I built for my custom light weight land rig but it would always bump into my hip when hunting. Now I just use a couple of stick on rubber feet found at office stores or radio shack that are meant to stick on the bottom of fax machines or other such stuff. They just stick on. I used two on the bottom of my GT's control box and they have never fell off and give the machine a nice soft cushion-like shock absorber when I sit it on the ground. I think a good idea because constant jarring of electronics is never a good thing, even a little over time constantly by sitting the machine down could cause problems. Make sure you don't stick them on the battery pack's surface or you won't have have feet when you switch to another pack, and also because putting off and on pressure on the pack could start to cause electrical shorts with the battery leads that contact the GT from the pack.
