Biggest coin spill I've hit so far

Today was one of the few times I wish I had a small coil at the beach to help separate the targets. About a mile from where we are staying I hit an area of wet sand, about 12 feet square, that I hunted and dug for about 3 hours. Back at the room, I counted $20.55 in coins. Little else from this hunt; but this old body is sore from digging.

Certainly alot of targets for such a small area and they look to be recent drops judging by the lack of corrosion. .. ashame there wasn't any gold there...

Hit that area again today and got a couple more dollars. While I'm working the area, a guy swinging a Nox walks into the area. I take my headphones off and wave and he ignores me; just keeps sweeping right around my feet. I moved away some, put the headphones back on and needed to move further away to get rid of the interference from the Nox.

He was digging deep holes and not seeming to come up with much. I don't think he has been at it very long.

I headed up the beach for a while. On the way back through, heading home, he decides he wants to talk. He says all he has found are pennies. I worked into the water about calf deep and dug a quarter, then a dime, then another quarter. Showed him the last quarter I had just dug and showed him where I got it. I think there is more to be had from this spot but we are heading home and having dinner with our son, who is local to the area, before we head home.

Got another $6.92 today and a big multi-tool that is corroded up. Looks like it is stainless, so I'll try soaking it in oil when we get home to see if I can get it all loosened up.
Cheers,
tvr

Don't know that I'd say that generally about NOX users. Last May I had a newby with a NOX who I talked with. He was digging a huge hole and said he was chasing a penny signal, based on the numbers. I checked the target in all metal and it was huge, like about 2 feet in diameter. I asked him if he had used pin point or all metal on his detector. He switch to all metal and he traced the target. We put a coin on the sand and he saw how that was a small signal when sized. Based on size and other target responses, I am guessing the huge target was a big piece of pipe. Both he and I had found some smaller pieces of busted up pipe in the area. Since he was already about two feet down and the target wasn't sounding any closer, we closed the hole and moved on. We walked the beach and checked targets together for an hour or so before heading our own ways.

I've had other nice chats with NOX users. This one last week was different. I think he was a newby because of how he was investigating targets, digging huge holes on his knees with what I think was a short handle RTG Moose Scoop (or very similar model scoop) and how he was generally acting. At least he was filling his holes.

First day of this trip I had a little over $3 in change. That evening I said to my wife "Not a bad day, there have been some weeks where I didn't get $3".

Total for the week was $39.94 in clad. 18 oz of lead sinkers. Not as much trash as I would have expected and just a couple of small junk jewelry items.
Cheers,

That's a great week tvr!

I've only seen one Nox in the bay and that was at Sandy Point, the day after labor day hunt. I'm sure they are coming...most are still swinging the CZ20/21's still.

OBN,
Thanks. It was the largest coin haul week for me at a beach. I had one bigger coin haul week (over dirt) cleaning out in front of some concession stands that had wood chipped areas in front of the stands.

I've been out of state for all my NOX sightings. In New Jersey I had a lady where we were staying ask about metal detectors for the beach for a gift for her husband. I gave her a quick run down of what I have and why. After talking a bit she did say he is pretty analytic and likes to get into details of how things operate and is a veteran. Even though I haven't tried a NOX, I had to suggest that she consider one for her husband primarily because of the price point ... and to ask for a veteran's discount since I've heard from some of the users I've talk to say they got veteran based discounts. Sounded like a learning curve would not be an issue for him.

Looks like hurricane Michael is going to be too far east when it gets to us to help drop the water levels locally. Will see in a couple of days!

Friday's timing of the lowtide might be good ( LT 3pm to 4pm )...........after 12 hours of 15 to 25 mph winds and if it continues to pull the water out of the mouth of the bay.....

Sure won't be what it was in early March, Wow!!

A big coin spill will give you a rush. You know your into one, when your coil lands on another coin while digging. Always a good time.
Good fer ya for !

Ive had to dig nearly $15........... in pennies once or twice.... what a pain. Hey i did big holes too...... but i assure you its not for a can. What ive found that also helps on the coins is lowering the freq..... to say 13 instead of 25. 25 makes those cans sound smaller than they really are...... and for the most part im not chasing coins anyway.
