does the 9 inch spider coil get the same depth as the stock 9.5? I understand that it feels lighter.

In my opinion, Nothing will beat the 950 coil on the DFX.

I have and use both. Depth of either coil on targets in the soil is hard to quantify due to variable soil conditions; IMO they are about the same and air tests are not a real world determination for two coils so closely matched. I purchased the 9 Spider for water hunting since the 950 tends to be buoyant and tiring to keep on bottom the Spider less so. The 9 Spider has its issues when hunting around brush and stubble which tends to get caught in the openings and impedes swinging the coil. Don’t get me wrong I like either coils in the right hunting conditions. If I had to choose one it would be the 950 because of stability-less falsing when bumped.

I use the stock coil and it is the best.
