In a search engine, put in "AT Pro salt water settings" and a lot of information will come up. I've used an AT Pro on wet salt sand and in shallow surf with some success, finding coins and costume jewelry down to 6 inches or so. Last summer I bought a pulse induction machine and have been using it exclusively in salt water and wet salt sand. Now I'm digging up coins, sinkers, etc. at 2 feet plus. I still use the AT Pro for dry salt sand hunting.

And...the ATGold does not have the capability of adjusting the ground balance that the ATPro does.

From the ATGold Manual:
"Because the AT Gold is optimized to find small gold pieces, saltwater use is not recommended for this detector. Its ability
to find small gold makes it equally reactive to the conductivity of saltwater.
This detector's ground balance adjustment is optimized to provide the greatest resolution in the normal
ground range and is not designed to address saltwater."

Setting the ATPro to a GB of 15 +/- 1 or 2 will work fine, but no where as good as a PI, multi-frequency, or a detector made for salt water hunting such as the DetectorPro Underwater.
