Didn't find a thing the detector just kept falsing-I went to the salt setting and tried everything Beeped all over the place but found nothing.
THis is a secluded area.I imagine the Gti 2500 will do the same. I will probably sell one of them and keep the pther.
I definitely like the imaging to look for coin so I will definitely keep one..Does garrett make one for the beach?

I hit the freshwater beaches with my AT Pro without any problems. What was your sensitivity set at? Underwater power cables can play hell with a machine too.

I suspect a few things could be happening:

1) Secluded beach would result with very few finds
2) Someone regularly detects the beach, and gets it all
3) Finds are deep and out of range

Lake Ontario is not salty, however, there could be mineralization, giving you the falsing. You might try reducing the sensitivity a bit. Sensitivity is not a depth control. If you sell one of the 2 detector, sell the GTI 1500. It has a deep true all metal mode, with ground-balancing. That in itself might give you better performance and better depth.

Good luck!

Just trying to clarify it in my own head ...

Did you mean, sell the GTI1500 and keep the GTI2500? (The 2500 has the deep true all metal mode, with both automatic and manual ground-balancing.)

Of the two, I would definitely keep the 2500.

(Just a personal opinion, from a 2500 user with many successful hunts with it.)

Cheers,

Joe
