I have been testing the F75/F70 with the N.E.L. Tornado the SEF 10x12 and the stock Fisher 11"DD...and THE CLEAR WINNER IS.....

...none of them.

Huh....not surprised so far...sorta bummed somewhat but not shocked.

My ground is around .1 on the Fe graph and GB around 80.....so not mild but not horrible either. I have tested each coil at the exact same setting on the exact same targets without making any changes accept the coil.......and well.....not much of a difference.

There are slight differences in the N.E.L response. Now it does not give much of that iron false hit on deep stuff...almost never actually as compared to the Fisher 11"DD. The SEF sits in between the two on this factor.

But to say one is noticeable deeper....well..ehhhh.....sorry...not there. I would guess the N.E.L was maybe a TAD better at hitting some of the deep targets..... but...... then again not so obvious that I could not promise my $210.00 spent on the N.E.L. was not swaying my judgement.

A video you might ask....well no point....unless you want to see 12 minutes of no difference proved out.

Now....don't run off...because in the future I want to try this in the woods where the soil is more mild. I would guess you may see just under an inch gain using the N.E.L just judging from previous use.....but most certainly not over an inch and that would be in good mild soil.

On the other hand a side observation I was able to prove...something I knew but never had the chance to prove side by side. The F-70 is as deep in the slow mode as the F-75 is on Boost. Thought I would maybe see some detectable difference between the two but actually nope. Which is good for the F-70 in my area.

I know several F-75 users who swapped to the F-70 and got better depth...which I was like...hmmmm...that I have to see. Well...I know they are in step with each other....and I tried every mode and combo on the F-75 to give it the edge but could not get it to be any noticeably deeper.......maybe do a video on that if I can.

I have used the F-75 since they first came out and had all the different versions so I am extremely familiar with them...it is my preferred relic machine. Atleast I have no reason to replace my F-70 with an F-75....accept that the 75 has a manual GB which is all I really miss...the rest I don't care about.
Hmmmm.....nothing like a day of testing and retesting and testing again and go....Huhhh.

Awesome! You know everybody said that the F70 with an 11" dd was a great machine.. your video of the 10" stock coil compared to the nel..they were miles apart. I am glad to know the results of your research. :clapping: Thank you for the effort and dilligence. I'll try that SL mode for when I want deep and old silver...maybe get a 5" dd coil as well...hows about a video on the TONES? I am very satisfied how well Delta Pitch works for me..regarding a Q from a bottlecap, or a q from a dime..or even a Q from a half...even a video of the modulated audio, and how tight a low sens and neg thresh can spit out a signal as opposed to a higher sens in the trash?? Maybe somebody else out there has something that everyone whould like to see you test between the two...We got all winter you know!

Nasty words, and suggestive post.

However on the F-70 the results were completely different...

I had to break this up into two posts as I had to recheck something on the F-70 because the tests results were completely different.

Now on the F-70 running in the DE or standard mode there was a big difference between the stock 11" DD and the N.E.L. and the SEF coils. Both the SEF and N.E.L. were clearly deeper than the stock 11" DD....no question...an easy inch. This I should say was on coin targets penny/dime/quarter. Oddly enough it kinda looked like the 11" Fisher was more stable on an 8.5" deep nickel...not sure why that was. All three coils hit it about as deep but the 11"DD was less jumpy.

When it came the 7" deep small flat cuff button.....the 11"DD and the N.E.L. both seemed to hit it as good while the SEF seemed to be more iffy.

On iron targets like a rusty iron ring and hand forged nail they all seeemed to be close. They all gave a constant iron ID on the ring and all falsed high more than 50% of the time on the forged nail...and that is consistent with any coil or detector I have ever seen on deeper forged nails.

Not sure why the difference on the F-70 and none on the F-75....had to retest it several times but it was repeatable every time. F-75 saw slight if any gaisn on the aftermarket coils but the F-70 loved them.

Go figure...

So at this point....my personal opinion from what I have seen....I would say either aftermarket coil looks promising on the F-70. Hey if you can get almost an inch depth gain in moderately mineralized soil that is worth it.

if I had an F-75....maybe not so much unless I wanted more coverage in a field and that is always a factor.

Now also it needs to be noted I do NOT have any deep large relics...no plates...shoe buckles etc...I am not burying those things...and I have never found a plate...but I do have shoe buckles. I would guess maybe on larger targets the F-75 may show a difference in the large coils as would be expected. I would go bury one quickly accept my ground is frozen solid anyway.

Last...how about weight and balance. Well I think IMHO...the SEF gets the nod on that....it is only 10x12 verses the 12x13 from N.E.L....but it balances a tad better on the F-75. I like both these coils better than the stock since I like center mounted coils anyway...I do not like the Fisher rear mounted coils...just an opinion. Now the N.E.L. was not bad but was noticeable on the F-75.

Now...on the F-70 the weight was not as much of a factor. The SEF and the N.E.L felt about the same. This may be due to the fact that the 75 uses a pistol grip setup and the f-70 an S rod config...so that may be what makes one seems heavier than another. So on the F-70 either one was good.

Well...if I was to say which one to get then...the N.E.L I like a tad batter than the SEF on the F-70....it had a tweak more response on some targets but again it is a tad bigger coil....so either one is a gain. On the F-75....it is a toss up to this point....certainly could not tell someone go blow $200.00 if you already had the stock 11"DD.....unless you just want a wider coil for field hunting in which case the either aftermarket coil would be a good open field coil.

Now what u need is the detech ulitimate 13" to see how that stacks up. I love mine on the omega! Maybe someone will give u a loaner on one of those for the sake of testing. I have a feeling you'd be impressed. Paul

I feel Fisher did it right the first time.

That would be expected....

I think that Fisher getting it right with the 11" DD is what should be expected. Now they came out with a 15" coil and maybe ...you know...they had to go that big to get any increase worth making a bigger coil.

On the other hand I have seen them indicate that trying to make a wide variety of sized coils was not possible...so always worth trying a new coil.

I mean for better coverage like I want for field hunting it is worth the getting the N.E.L....and it seperates great even in trash surprisingly. But the depth question always comes up and I did not expect to see any huge gains to begin with....especially not on coin/button sized stuff.

Excellent information...thanks for your hard work.

Did you notice any differences in the coils tolerance of EMF vs the stock coil?

Any other fine points that noticed regarding stability in operation not necessarily related to depth.

Thanks,
Rick

The F75 SE in the Cache mode is like the F70 in the slow mode. Cache mode will go about good 3" better if not more in testing i did on the F75SE. I got 14" in cache mode on a clad quarter with the 5" coil on. You don't hear much about the cache mode on the F75SE it is a slow mode longer sound response.

More importantly to me than a bit of depth is do these NEL coils make either of those two detector you tested less noisy ? I'm thinking of buying one and that will be the main reason for doing so.
Thanks.
Rick

Why no answer to this question ? does anyone know ?
I don't care about a fraction of an inch of depth,
Will this coil be less noisy ?

They have been out for quite some time now, yet there seems to be no answer to this question, frankly makes me quite skeptical if there are ANY advantages to this "aftermarket upgrade"

again are the NEL coils quieter on F70-75 or greek detectors ? someone please answer.

PS the lack of one does give actually speak volumes

OK don't have an nel but testing under a humming transformer

The sef 12x10 is a bit quieter for sure I tested in je 89 sense 2f disc 4 my unit is a camo 75 LTD. It's generally quieter than the 75se don't know why it just is also I scanned a small earring gold tiny and could hear it better with the sef under the transformer transformer on a pole across from a park I hunt during the summer months at time of test ground frozen with 5ins snow cover went back and measured distance from big Grey humming transformer. Test was done 37ft from pole again I don't have a nel to compare but sef quieter and seems to balance well balanced out 78. Stock 11in 85. Again don't know why they just balanced that way. Also sef completely quiet at sens 70. Stock 11 at 59. That's the way they tested for me anybody else find the sef quieter? HH. C t

The Nels and Core seem to be quieter on this platform, my Sharpshooter is by far, anyway, on my F70.
And it is way deep.
Some of it might have to do with the settings, I have found different combinations that affect the depth I can get substantially.
Plus the dirt has a lot to do with depth, also.

I just bought U13 for my f75 and on 0 sens it bangs a qtr at 10" my 11"dd will get it scrubing the ground, 13 i can go a couple of inches above. Also the ground balance #'sseem to be lower than 11dd, im normally at 58, 2 bars, this was at 42, 1 bar, went to all metal and balanced at 55, 1 bar. Detech say there coils help eliminate some of the iron in the ground! I'll have to see if i can find this statement

I added the U13 and found it added an no less than an inch to reliable target ID in my test bed. My primary reason to justify buying it was open field coverage. It's well balanced and there is no weight penalty. Good luck with yours.
