Tracking Number Received

Received a tracking number for my new to me F70. It will come with the 11"DD, 10 inch eliptical, and 5 inch coils. I am really excited to get my new detector and to learn how to use it. I am experienced with a lot of top-end detectors but have never used a F series. I have been out of detecting for over a year and have arthritis issues so I needed a light detector. I like a machine that will go deep and have read a lot about the excellent depth of these machines. I will be mostly coinshooting at older parks and residences. Also love hunting curb strips. I think I have watched every F70 video on YouTube in anticipation.

Here's hoping it doesn't take you as long to get yours as it took me to get my F75. I'm having to learn my machine too, though I did make one good find today with it, an 86 caliber Remington Revolver tear drop bullet. I'll get some pictures up in a bit on a new thread. Hope you enjoy your F70 when you get it

Congrats on the bullet. I know I will enjoy the F70 because I am determined to make the best of it no matter what. I have owned a lot of different machines and you can get caught up in the "I don't like it" revolving door if you're not careful. I refuse to go back there. The F70 is more than capable for my type of hunting.

Congratulations on getting the F70 detector, never heard a bad word from anyone on that detector and I've been on this site now for over two years. My little brother has a F70 and he loves it and I've got an F5 which I also love. I've seen my little brother find silver quarters down in the 8" range with his and the place he was hunting had at least 1000 detectors go over the area before he got there.

Read this while you are waiting.
Google "Digger27's F70 log"...everything I learned for the first 6 months using this thing from day 1.
That was all in great western Kansas and Missouri dirt.
I dug way less during that time since I was experimenting on just about every target with many settings.
After I finally settled down with a few favorite settings and just hunted I more than made up for what I was missing during the initial experimental stage.

Blast-Through all metal settings for extreme iron and heavy trash

That elliptical coil...my jewelry killer.
I use all three coils you have plus now a Nel Sharpshooter but the elliptical concentric is still a favorite.

After I moved back to the difficult SE. I continued to experiment in order to try to find targets around here which more often than not are extremely masked at all depth levels....also worked on getting past 5" in depth.

It is built into most Fisher unit's programming, it is real and can help you find masked odd numbered great targets others miss if you understand it.

DP...more than just a tone choice.
http://www.findmall.com/read.php?37,2351519,page=1

High thresh...some interesting results.
We can control the thresh completely in disc which even the F75 guys can't do.
Nowadays I use the highest thresh possible in both disc and all metal.
http://www.findmall.com/read.php?37,2346907,2346907#msg-2346907

Thresh can affect depth in many combinations of settings.
High sense, low thresh, low sense, high thresh can both work and can affect noise and chatter.
Some interesting air test results and charts in these two threads.

Some thoughts...
http://www.findmall.com/read.php?37,2369642,page=1

Currently I am using some very strange settings that are producing some surprising results.
I have tried some version if these in the past but the more I experiment the more I realize that these might me the ultimate settings for keeping this non DST unit the quietest.
I set the disc at the highest possible, 65, then notch in several areas back in under that setting.
The more you notch in the noisier it gets but that depends on site conditions.
Usually I can safely notch in iron, which I want to hear, and at least two other sections like nickels and tabs because I am still a good hunter at heart.
Sometimes I can notch in more sections than that.
Lately I am using DP tones doing this because iron sounds good and isn't so annoying and I can hunt without looking at the screen and just listen for good tones.
Quite a backwards way to do it but I can pump up the sense to max and the thresh too in several sites and still keep the thing shockingly quiet.
I can never hunt this quietly using normal low disc settings.
I have no idea why it works this way on this thing but it does and it works well.

All of this is there for you to try...in the future.
At first just use factory settings, tweak them to make them quiet as possible and dig a bunch as you get used to it.
This thing is way overpowered out of the factory and might take a little time to get used to it and take it but not all that long.
Super low sense still gets shockingly deep so keep that in mind...that is one of the hardest things I had to learn to wrap my head around at the beginning.

Factory settings should find you about 95% of what's out there in normal sites, soils and conditions, tweaking them will produce better results in the more challenging sites like mostly where I hunt but you have plenty of time to experiment and find out what you like the best.
We all use these top end Fishers in sometimes some totally different ways and we all are successful so just have patience and you will eventually find yours one day too.
Till then just keep an open mind and have fun.
Ask questions as you learn, we are all happy to help around here.

Thank you so much !!! I have already read quite a few of these posts after ordering the F70. I intend to stay with the F70 for the long run. I may never be as good as you with it but I know that I can make this detector work for me.

I got an estimated arrival date of Wednesday from USPS. Most of the time I will get stuff one day earlier than the estimate so Tuesday if I am lucky. Can't wait to get started.

Learned to understand many parts of it well, yes...master it, no.
Still learning, jaw still dropping, still finding great things.

Just wondering if you got your F70 in your hands yet and if you tested it out in your yard. Good luck with in and congrats on your new detector, have fun and happy hunting, wishing successful hunts for you. I'm getting dressed up in my warm clothes and heading back to the cane field with my F75, going to find what's good out there, might take till spring to find what's good out there but I'm determined.

Yes, I got the F70 today !!! I went to the Post Office and picked it up when they opened this morning at 9am. I have been out in my backyard for a few minutes and I love it. I was able to pick up pretty quick on good targets vs trash but will continue to dig iffy targets until I know more about the language. I used the 11" DD this morning and plan to put the 10" Elliptical on this afternoon and try it for a while. I found a few pennies, a couple of dimes, a nickel and a padlock. I also did some air testing with the 11"DD and the 10" and they are both plenty deep. I was able to run 80+ sensitivity settings and there are power lines completely surrounding my back yard but had no problems. In a way the way the F70 reacts to targets is similar to the Deus in my opinion. It has a very fast response and I like the 4H tones a lot !!!! I haven't found much of anything that I don't like about the F70 so far and I am going to get out a while this afternoon at a local ballfield where I have been hunting with the Tesoro since I got it. Hope you have a great day in the fields today. I know that you are gonna find the good stuff out there.
