First Outing with F75

Got out with the F75 and hit the woods, no real luck there, then hit a yard across the road that we had permission to hunt on. Hunting buddy did pretty good, 5 bullets all different from each other, I got a few, drop 3ringer, fired round ball and a Remington revolver tear drop button. Lots of junk but got what I think was part of a buckle set up of some kind. There is a bit of a learning curve but I'll get the hang of the machine

The other guy found himself one of the dropped tear drops too along with a fired Enfield's, a nice dropped round ball, dropped one ringer and a dropped three ringer, he had a good day! I just got permission to hunt a sugar cane field but during the civil war it was a cotton field on a plantation which is still standing, there was a battle that took place there and a Confederate battery was there. The plantation has been there since the mid 1830's, just wish we could hunt the grounds around that plantation house. Hopefully we will be able to get some good finds in the cane fields, it was just harvested a couple of weeks ago, we'll be able to hunt there till spring when the cane starts to grow

Hunt any elevation BEHIND where the battery was set up---up to 1/2 mile deep.

I believe the battery was set up on the plantation grounds, can't hunt on those grounds but can go knocking on doors behind the plantation grounds and ask to hunt on their properties, already have some properties farther down the road I've gotten permissions to hunt, found some bullets on them, I'm hoping to find some good brass pieces

Looks like a successful 1st hunt to me !! Congrats on your finds. I am sure they will only get better as you learn more about your new machine !!

I'm hoping for some good finds, they all try and say that places around this way are pretty hunted out but we tend to always find a few bullets. Buttons don't tend to withstand the test of time here in south central Louisiana though, wrong kind of soil, they tend to fall apart once the damp soil gets cleaned away

Some nice finds for your maiden voyage with a new detector. It will only get better. Like that tear drop bullet. "Hunted out?" not to likely. Good luck! HH jim tn

Thanks, I like that tear drop myself, it rained during the night and that cold blast moved in but I'm thinking about getting dressed warm and getting over to the cane field. Just something about having a new to you machine and the need to use it. I use to ride a motorcycle during the winter, I think I could manage dressing for detecting in thirty something degree's, I could always move into the woods to escape the wind

I was in the woods this morning at 19 degrees. H**l, you are having a heat wave down there. LOL I know its cold, you all down there and us up here aren't used to sub freezing temps. Hope you end the old year with a good one. HH jim tn

Nice civil war lead. I've never found a Remington pistol bullet. HH
