Hello John;
Yes I have many hours on the II. I owned the prototype, the first one Jerry Tyndall built. It won't be as deep as the IIB or the IIBa but it is still far ahead of a lot of detectors today. It is a stable machine and is hot on brass and copper. It's no slouch on deep coins either. If yours is in good shape and performs as it should I would certainly hang on to it. The depth difference is not that much, maybe an inch or two depending on the soil conditions, and it seems to me that the older Nautilus machines were more rugged and dependable than the newer generation.
Happy Hunting, Jerry C. Ga.
