Bullet shaped object found on Beach - what is it?

Hi Guys,

Found this on a beach on the Dorset Coast, UK.

It was encrusted in some rock which came away quite easily.

Any ideas what it is? Seems quite heavy.

Thanks

Nick

Could be from training, could also be a WWII relic, possibly from fighter aircraft. I'd be thrilled to have found it if I could verify WWII.

The real treasure is in the marketing.

It does appear to be a .50 caliber bullet, which was in heavy use by US aircraft and ground forces during WWII. It is still in use today.

It is a 50 cal bullet and hundreds of millions were discharged in ww2. Polish it up and attach it to something. Peace Roy

I'm going to say it looks as tho it was a tracer round as well. I've got a few of the .50 cal rounds and mine do not have the burnt looking hole in the center on the end. I've also got a fired .51 cal round , which is a Russian made round. The Ruskies made some ammo 1 caliber larger than ours so that if they captured some of our ammo , they could use our ammo in their weapons but we could not use theirs in our weapons.
