Pewter decorative adornment?

Dug up a flat pewter heart shaped object, 2.85" tall, 2 .67" wide, on average 1 /10" thick. Obv is finished smooth while the rev is rough and exhibits poured mold surface. Rev has three small holes where iron attachment points have rusted away. No markings. Item dug at 4-6" between a 1753 1real, 1835 large cent and several IHC. I'm thinking breastplate, leatherwear adornment or what?

Hard to tell without a photo, but I have seen something close to what you have described used as decorative stock inlays on some older muzzleloaders - flintlock and early percussion era. Particularly if the smooth side has a subtle curve to it. Usually they'd be a little smaller though.
