Not sure where this was found. No clue myself and I've seen a few...back is pretty nondistinct but I do have a picture.
Family legend says it's very valuable...ya right.

Just a hunch, Clive, but that might be a Viking stone carving going back 1,000 years or more. Link below for comparison with the kind of stuff they were making. Old Bill Reeves used to always say on the Garrett forum, "the only way to tell treasure from trash is to dig, ha, and the only way to know for sure what or what it may not be is to get an expert opinion from a ph.d at a near by university or museum or tote it along to a visiting Antiques Road Show.

Whatever it may be, wherever it may have come from, certainly looks like a mother carrying her child, with her arm around it holding and protecting it. An ancient idol, possibly even an early depiction of the Madonna and Christ child from the conversion of the vikings to Christianity way back in the 900's AD. Do find out, clive and let us know!

"Come get your duds in order 'cause we're bound across the water,
Heave away, me jollies, heave away.
Come get your duds in order 'cause we're bound to leave tomorrow,
Heave away, me jolly boys, we're all bound away..."
