Still loving my XLT after 20 years, and she has her place in my arsenal along with the GPX 5000 and AT Gold, searching for Civil War relics. GPX is a deeper searching machine but the XLT doesn't slack much when I run the 15" coil, and it still does pretty good in the busy trash areas that challenge the GPX's recovery speed. Plus the XLT's VDI Signagraph accuracy is hard to beat, always know what's under the coil before I dig. There are times where the site calls for the XLT, and times I'm just feeling the love, lol.

Cheers

I just dusted off my xlt and figured out how to stabilize the battery pack contacts. Unit is showing beach corrosion but I took it to some old ground in NJ and it did not disappoint. In the first 3 hours I dug a 1833 large cent, 1902 Indian cent, 1827 mason-wheeler padlock dust cover plate, Dixon & sons pewter spoon, 1936 Seaside Park beach tag and much more. I am going to work on treating the corrosion, prime and paint while the cold winds blow so I am ready for milder weather. Peace Roy

I still love my xlt after 17 yrs. It feels better balanced, IMO, and lighter than my Safari. Sent it to Sweet Home for some TLC they usually do great work. Took 2 weeks to get there from the east coast. My wife enjoys spending time detecting with me. She has used it before and likes it. Had some shutting down issues. Have found many interesting things with it through the years. Ron

In the future...

Send to Bob at Centreville electronics, he's White's east coast dealer for repairs and will certainly provide great service. Been dealing with him since the 80's.

Is the xlt much different than the IDX Pro ?? both run on the same freq and use the same coil options, but the XLT is one machine that i have always fancied trying out,but i do all ready own a IDX and was wondering if i would gain anything by getting another similar detector.

Not sure if anyone has used both of these machines and if its worth getting a xlt.

I just picked up a later version XLT and anxious to take it out. Had a rainbow XLT years ago but this one has the updated coil. Hurry up spring.

I had mine repaired by Whites twice in the last 3 years. Machine kept going to overload. They replaced circuit board and coil and did some other work. The last time it was repaired was Feb of 2017. Sold it to my brother. Complete package with a 4 in.coil and garrett pin pointer for 2 bills. Now its been acting up again. Same symptoms. Goes to overload. That was with the 9.5 coil. So he put the 4 on it and the overload stopped. Coil was replaced last year and has only seen maybe 10 or 12 outings since. Don't know if the coil is under warranty or not. He has receipt for service work done in 2017. On a more positive note. You will like the xlt. It is a well balanced machine with hip mount options. Much easier to swing than some of the newer machines out there today. I used that xlt for many many years with some wonderful results. (KS coyote) Glad to see your post.
