Anyone know how to open the battery doors. Tried pulling on all sides and hate to break them.

You'll have to hacksaw them off, that's the only way to remove them.

You'll find a set of sealed C batteries, you can replace them with four AA batteries to each side.

Fabricate some type remounting brackets, or use extra strength black tape to secure the doors.

Inside are trimmer pots to adjust tone breaks, nice model to have.

Keep us posted, I'd like to hear if you got it going.

Just noticed you said Turbo? Seems to me the doors were removable with the Tubro? Did you mean Tek S/T?

Regardless, just hacksaw them off if you can't remove them.

Good luck,
Paul

Figured it out. The two doors pop off with a little help from a screw driver. The doors pop on nice and snug and pop off with ease. I have seen countless pictures of this detector but have never seen one in the flesh until Thursday at a yard sale. Purchased not knowing if it works or not. The color of the detector is red. There are no battery holders for either side. Any idea how many batteries for each side and would they be AA or 9 volt. The detector is clean looking from the out side and the straps inside look new. Any help with the batteries.

The Teknetics Turbo either took 2-9V or 2-6AA battery packs.

On mine the battery doors just pop off...they are not sealed like on the S/T models.

Mine has no problems with the battery life! I am still on the first set of batteries that I installed when I got it! It has a dual set of batteries...when one set goes out just switch to the 2nd set.
