GAR Civil War Veterans Badge! / SLQ / Barber / Gold and Silver Jewelry And Others

Finds are from the last couple weeks at a handful of old city parks and schools.
The Civil War Veterans Badge and the Teddy Roosevelt medal were found at a very old school.
The Veterans Badge read similar to a wheat penny but I knew it was a bigger target.
When I first saw it in the hole I thought it was a kid's toy cowboy
badge until I picked it up and realized how heavy and ornate it was.
I was shocked when I saw the "1861-VETERAN-1866" and started to realize how good of a find I had just pulled.

The standing liberty quarter was a very deep signal and was on the verge of sounding like Iron but I was able to get the signal to repeat from 2 directions so I chased it.
The crushed button appears to be a civil war general service button and has a "Waterbury Button Company" stamp on the back.
The gold plated locket (Tested 14k) was a nice surprise at about 6 inches deep.
The 1901 Barber dime is paper thin and is one of the thinnest barber dimes I have dug. It was a 9+ inch target.
The 1917s Buffalo nickel is a decent year for value.

It was nice hunting in thawed ground without insulated pants

Coin Finds
Standing Liberty Quarter is Dateless
Silver dimes are 1901,1923,1925,1936,1944
Nickels are 1884,1898,1909,1911,1917s,1935,1937
Indian Pennies are 1883,1904
23 Wheat pennies are back to 1911 (some old years in the lot are 1911,1912,1913)

Chinese Cash Coin (looks to be 1736 - 1795 variety)

Non Coin Finds
Grand Army Republic Civil War Veterans Badge
General service civil war button
14 K Gold Plated Heart Locket (no picture inside)
925 Silver ring (Elephants touching trunks)
Chief Kid's ring (I found the same type of ring last year - Probably late 60s)
Small ornate button with red stone
Bally's Aladdin Token
Long 3 ring bullet (based on depth I believe it to be pre-1900)

That GAR medal is unbelievable and it's condition is simply amazing! Great find FPD. Right up there with your Fireman's medal last year. The Roosevelt piece is very cool as well. Anything on the backside of it? As for that Barber, you now have now added new meaning to the phrase, "Not one thin dime" lol. That bullet looks just like the Indian War era bullets I used to dig in Arizona. Nice job and glad to hear you have some better weather to hunt in now.

HH Greg.

Greg, yes that GAR badge was a great surprise and cleaned up great. Saturday started where I only got one 1913 wheat penny the first 3 hours so it took me a while to run into some stuff.
I found out what the Roosevelt piece was. It is from a turn of the century political watch fob. A complete one sold for $200. The obverse and reverse are the same. Thanks for the bullet ID!

Thanks SD. Yes that ranks up there as one of my favorite relic finds.
When I pulled it out of the hole I saw that back first so I was initially disappointed that it didn't have any words or numbers on it. Then I turned it over and was thrilled.
Still very jealous of that large cent you got though

I'd go back there sometime. Maybe history will repeat itself and you will find the other half later on.
