My 2018 Year End Finds
Posted by: floodplaindetector

We have been in a major blizzard the past few days so I decided to post my year end finds again this year.
I didn't get out near as much as last year but still had a lot of fun hunts. This year I detected 2 old houses and the rest were all public sites.
There were numerous finds I didn't include in this post as I selected what I thought were the most interesting ones.
I want to thank everyone who viewed my posts this past year and best of luck to all the detectorists in 2019!

Silver Coins: I ended the year with 173 silver coins back to 1895. My 1897 half dollar was a memorable coin as it had been a while since I got a barber half dollar.

Indian Head Pennies: I pulled 41 Indian heads in 2018, including 2 1867 Indian head pennies.

Old Nickels: I pulled 24 V nickels back to 1884 and 44 buffalo Nickels in 2018. My 1937 3 legged buffalo nickel was the highlight. Was club graded @ $670.

Foreign Coins: Oldest Foreign coin was a copper Friedrich Wilhelm III 3 Pfenning (1821-1840). I never made it to Canada this year so my foreign coin count
was way less than last year. Maybe next year . Also pulled was 2 1736-1795 Chinese Cash Coins.

Relics: A couple notable finds were the GAR Civil War Veterans Badge and the 1905 Teddy Roosevelt Political Fob. Both were published in Western and Eastern Treasures Magazine.
The Yellowstone park watch fob was also a very rare fob. The 1908 Dog License Tag was also a rare find.

Jewelry: Some memorable finds were the FFA silver ring, WWII air corps pin, 2 old heavy silver religious medals and the black hills gold ring.

Toys: The miniature lead Beretta gun (published in Western and Eastern Treasures magazine) and the Hubley Star cap gun were a couple unexpected and fun finds.

Awesome results from 2018 Dave. It's funny as I look at them I find myself saying I remember that one and that one.... haha. There are two of your finds that I would nominate as my favorites. The Barber Half because I have yet to find one in 40 years of hunting. Aaargh! The other is the Yellowstone Park fob. I just absolutely love that piece. The Air Corps pin would roll in next for me. What a great year and I am glad I got to follow along with everyone one else as you dug each piece up over the past year. Look forward to seeing all the awesome stuff you dig in 2019. ATB Greg
