This came up in my scoop while detecting a sand bar about 50 feet from shore in a nearby lake. I have no idea how it ended up there. Was the lake lower and the area an ancient campground? Was it used on a weapon to catch fish? Any thoughts? We'll never know for sure but it was really cool finding it. I may go back to the spot and do some more scooping in the future.

That's a very interesting find! It has definitely been chipped to make some sort of a tool or spear head. Could be ~10,000 years old. I would go back and see of you can find some more fragments.

It looks like a worked piece of chert or flint. Shape is indicative of a scraper hand tool. Scrapers were used by native Americans to clean carcasses. Peace
