Hey guys never posted on the civil war forum before because I’ve never found anything civil war lol. I found this interesting buckle the other day in a farm field but I’m having trouble finding any information on it. Thanks so much for your time!

I do not have a pic of the back but I can get one when I get home in the morning, full time firefighter and I won't be home till the A.M. You can see where the pins were at one time but no longer there. Ive never seen anything like it before. It was a very neat find for sure. Very much appreciate the info. Do any of you guys have any tips for care and preservation?

My book said many of these had faulty designed soldered on hooks and many were found in the camps that their troops occupied. Legend has it that they were manufactured in railway shop in Greensboro, NC
Also the S. T. stands for State Troops. not sure about the do's and don'ts on preservation

Awesome find buddy. I've heard of them coming out on the Gettysburg retreat route. What part of the country are you from?

That is one of the rarest buckles you can find, I hope it's real the dropped some but they've sold for $7,500 in the past
