Thanks for posting that , Vlad. I did some work for an older gentleman and his wife a few years back, and while in his house one day, I noticed a picture of an aircraft carrier. It had the name and date the picture was taken. It was the USS Enterprise, taken during WWII . He had served on the Enterprise during the war, and him knowing my prior service , we got to talking. He said one day they went into general quarters , combat positions, he wasn't able to make it to his battle position, you have a very short time to make it to your station once the GQ alarm has been given. Then all bays are locked down, all hatches are closed, and it's a court martial offense to open any hatches during a GQ drill. Well he said he didn't make it to his post and got locked in the laundry room on the ship. All this happened during a bombing raid on the ship by the Japanese, he said a bomb from a Jap plane crashed thru the deck of the ship and landed in a pile of dirty clothes in the laundry room. He said he had to sit there during the whole battle and look at that bomb, while not allowed to open a hatch to leave the area. Can you imagine what would be going thru your mind during something like this ? The stories these men tell are a part of history that is slipping away fast, and today's generation doesn't give a damn about it.
