Confused About Search Programs Please Help!

Hello Everyone. I strictly coin hunt old hard hit parks. I am wanting to pick up a 3030 but feel intimidated with all the lingo. Combined mode. ferrous coin etc. Can I just use a simple coin program that will just hit pennies and above without having to change programs or settings? I tried a Nox 800 and liked how easy it was to disc out pennies and below. Also people are saying the Nox will unmask better then the 3030 which is important when hitting pounded parks. I have the money for the 3030 amd people seem to be saying the 3030 s a better silver coin machine.

I’ve had a CTX for a long while and really like it, never had a nox but have read all the posts and seems it has its place but not to replace the CTX.
There are several stock programs on the CTX from the factory.
Yes you can just select a coin program and go with it, simple.
Do some testing in a test garden and find out how it reacts in your area.
Then after you use it a couple of times in the field you will want more and then start exploring all the settings and dial it in for your spot.
Andy’s CTX book is great , it explains all the settings and adjustments , I still get it out and reread parts when needed.
Good luck and you can’t go wrong with a CTX

I’ve had the CTX for just over 2 years and also like it ALOT! When hunting coins in terrible places I’ve had a great deal of success. Don’t be afraid of it,you’ll grow together and it’ll be your best buddy. As stated,it’d be very difficult to go wrong with it. It is the Mac Daddy of machines,the only regret you might have is not already having one!:smile:

Just my 2 cents;

I liken this to asking for golf advice, 10 different people with give you 10 different answers. My strongest recommendation would be to attend one of Andy Sabisch's Bootcamps. You will walk away with answers to your questions, as well as, sound knowledge of your machine. Andy talks a lot about (pardon me for paraphrasing, Andy), Learn the machine! Don't focus on what other people are doing with settings/programs because their ground conditions, interference, etc. play a huge role in their performance.

You can find the Bootcamp thread pinned to the top of the index.

The 3030 has a program readily available for US coins only. Everything else is discriminated out.

No, and I can't think of any machine with a built in program that discs out everything below the copper range. Try using the pre-set coins program. Block out everything on the screen to the left of the 40 conductive line (can go a little farther left depending on your soil/age & depth of coins). Page 8, 9 & 10 of the CTX manual describes how to do it. Once you've done that, you can save the program and it's there when you want it.
